Barehide Ranch (formerly Armadillo Nudist Resort) is rebuilding and renovating. This clothing optional resort spans 50 acres of beautiful, wooded land just 20 minutes north of Weatherford, Texas. A group of three families bought the land on which Armadillo stood. They have re-opened as a new club called Barehide Ranch. Three of the 6 owners were charter members of the original Armadillo, who had been also been members at Vista Grande. The Barehide group has already spent about $30,000 replacing A/Cs and toilets, putting lots of new gravel on the roads, fixing the hot tub, fixing or replacing septic/sewer tank and pipes.
On Saturday evenings, the DJ, kicks into gear for the high energy dance with over 4,000 songs and he plays everything from rock to country and western. Like other nudist resorts, Barehide Ranch has an over 18 policy at the dance which allows grown-ups to socialize on their level. On Friday evenings during summer, weather permitting, Armadillo Resort holds an "Under the Stars" popcorn and movie night. So bring your golf cart or chairs to sit on and relax in the beautifully warm Texas evenings. During winter the "Popcorn and Movie Night" takes place in the clubhouse. During summer weekends, impromptu games of water volleyball, horseshoes and ladder golf can be enjoyed. Both pools are open in season to accommodate everyone; the energetic who want to play water volleyball as well as those who prefer to float, soak up the Sun and socialize. The newly installed enclosed hot-tub is simply decadent, hot and bubbly. Beautiful hiking trails are maintained for long leisurely ambles in nature and a library will be available to those who prefer to relax by curling up with a good read.

"We have visited this place a number of times. 2017 was the first, not long after the new owners took over. There was great excitement with the extensive clean up and infusion of fresh money and new ideas.
Fast forward to 2022. . .only one of three couples that took over are in place. Improvements including a new office, some new cabins that look more like an oil field encampment now are available to rent. The clubhouse has more of a male MC Club house vibe than a real resort. The hot tub and pool areas are still sorely lacking. Roads are still dirt and they had water supply issues. The swinging there is now front and center and we heard complaints from people being singled out for not participating. Owners are joining in this behavior as well creating a disconnect from regular nudists. With other safety and health concerns we would not recommend this place for the traditional nudist or clothing optional couples. " – Kevin from Florida

"Yesterday was my first time going to a nudist resort and being out and about with other people while being nude. Bill H. gave me a tour and showed me all the amenities. People there were very nice and made being nude very comfortable. Just spent the day there. Hiked the trails, sunbathed, relaxed in the hot tub and played water volleyball. "I contacted the resort via phone an was told what a great place it was an all the activities that were planned for this weekend. We drove our RV 2 hours to attend this wonderful place. Upon arrival the place was deserted. The grounds were in bad shape. Shingles were hanging from the rooftops. We drove to the office to be greeted by a woman leaving in a golf cart an a gentleman lounging in a golf cart. The man advised us we could stay at full price but no activities would be available all weekend. We explained to him that we had called an been told about events. He laughed an said he would have told us the same thing to get us here. He further stated that they weren’t really a swingers resort. We will never go back to this resort. "I was told that this club has recently become under new owners and management. The new owners have been spending money left and right to upgrade the infrastructure, grounds appearance, and amenities. I was greeted very warmly and genuinely by the office Manager named Bill. It was a first time for me to be nude and he was able to make it all seem normal and relaxing. He was thorough with explaining not on the layout of the grounds, but also the rules, and nudist history. He answered all my questions extremely well and (with humor) made me relaxed enough to walk out of the office door ready to embrace this new experience with confidence. Kudos.As I made my way to the pool. I met several members that were very kind. One lady even gave me a hug upon meeting me and said that she was glad to have me visit. I was encouraged to relax and just have a good time. Arriving at the pool, I noticed a group playing water volleyball. As I made my way to a table to set down all my stuff, I was told, “Come on in…we need another player!” Very friendly people here. My day was awesome.
I can see that they owners are upgrading and doing major work around the grounds. They have 3 cabins and I saw construction progressing on all three. The hot tub was hot and the pools were nice. They have a dance hall and have dances every Saturday night. The hall is country looking and the place was fun, loud, and enjoyable. Plenty of drinking…but you have to bring your own. lol – All in all, I can’t wait to see what the new owners will be doing over the next few years. The people are friendly and the place is improving. Although the work is in progress, I give it a 5 out of 5 just because I walked around naked for the first time in my life and enjoyed every minute of it. The place makes you feel at home.
