Avatan Nudist Club was founded in 1961 and is located 30 minutes north of Minneapolis on 40 acres of rolling woodland. The attractive and secluded grounds offer a safe environment for your entire family to enjoy the nudist life. Avatan is one of the friendliest nudist resorts that attracts really nice people, members and guests. Understand that families are the core of the membership with only a limited number of singles.
Avatan Nudist Club is a state-licensed, family nudist campground with rental cabins, RV/tent sites, a pool, hot tub, sauna, playground, teen center, kids’ pool, volleyball and a clubhouse. The resort is open from May though October and is 30 minutes north of Minneapolis. Avatan is Minnesota’s largest and most friendly family nudist club.
The Avatan is affiliated with AANR which promtes Family Style Nude Recreation. Visit the Avatan Nudist Club for a weekend or a day to relax without clothes in a secluded and beautiful wooded campground.
"We spent a far too short mini-vacation at Avatan…and on our first stay found it to be one of the best and most friendly we have ever visited. Wonderful CLEAN facilities…sparkling clean, maintained immaculately. Great introduction tour by staff and volunteers. Great advance background check (no creepers here). Great CLEAN and well-equipped rental cabins available. Wonderful pool, hot tub, sauna, community kitchen, and friendly members who invite you to join them at Pickleball, Pétanque and similar popular resort activities. Great RV sites and tent campsites available. Community kitchen (well-equipped and spotless). "This was the first time for my wife and I to visit a nudist resort. When we got there, on a Friday afternoon, we did the tour of the grounds and facilities naked as they request. My wife almost didn’t do it but finally relented and went along. After the tour, she was a little better but by Saturday noon, she was very comfortable being totally naked in front of 100+ people. By the time we left on Sunday, neither one of us wanted to leave. We spoke to our tour couple before we left, and they were both very proud of my wife for following through and taking part in the activities. I played pickle ball and petanque. We both swam in the pool and soaked in the hot tub, played Bingo, and Farkle, attended a cookout, attended kariokee and visited with many people. We took a couple walks around the ground and chit chatted with more people. Everybody was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. We can’t wait to go back again. "First time to a Nudist campground for both of us. We went on a day pass to consider membership. Upon arrival (call ahead for a tour) we were greeted by really friendly staff. They put to rest all of our questions, concerns and nervousness. Cindy and Karen made us feel right at home and welcome. For the tour, you must be naked and I can understand why. It really forces you to engage quickly, because most people left to their own choices, probably would never shed their clothes. It took just a little bit of time to adjust to the non-clothed environment, but everyone was so accepting we didn’t even feel fully conscious that we were naked the whole time. Tour guides were really knowledgeable, and we met several board members on site as well. They shared nudist ediquette and other tips. We spent a wonderful day at the pool, which was large! It was wonderful. We met a lot of wonderful people and had a great experience letting the sun warm our bodies. The pool is kept extremely clean as well as the grounds! I was amazed. We were invited to a camp party for the holiday weekend, and it was awesome. Everyone brought food, and they roasted a pig for the event. We had to leave before the dance, but will definitely be back! Secluded, safe, CLEAN and friendly! This camp gets an A+ from this picky traveler!" – Amy from Minnesota
"We have been going to Avatan for several years. We have really enjoyed the people at Avatan. Sure, the resort is nice, the facilities great, but the reason we keep coming back is the people we have met. The fact that we return a couple/three times a year is a testament to how much we enjoy Avatan.
Though not necessarily high on the list, but one of the reasons the Female member of this couple likes Avatan is the gender balance policy of Avatan. There are limited single/unattached men.
You can do as much or as little as you want at Avatan. On weekends, Avatan has breakfast and lunch for a nominal charge, so you don’t even have to cook. The pool, kiddy pool, and the hot tub are very nice. There are all age ranges on any given weekend at Avatan. Families with children, twens, teens, and seasoned citizens as we consider ourselves all frequently visit Avatan. "This is a very nice resort and the facilities are kept up very well. I thought the people were friendly. The main downside is that the resort excludes singles who are married and do not bring their spouse. After they found out I fit this category, I was told that I was not welcome to come back. I know that a lot of private clubs have similar policies. I’m hoping that AANR will encourage them to be more open to everyone and accepting of people regardless of gender or marital status, which is consistent with nudist beliefs." – Paul from Wisconsin
