"We stayed at Krystal Resort from 2nd December to 7th December 2013. I found it as one of best place to stay. The staff has been very courteous and nice. Food was excellent. The beach was nice. It is just home away from home. All the facilities are at arms length. Only safe box was missing. Sale pitch was what one can expect. Chris is the best person as human being, as well as a salesman. We still miss it." – Ravi from Edmonton, Alberta
"We stayed at the resort from 1/2/13-1/9/13 and the only problem we had was being constantly hounded to buy into “extra” sightseeing ventures and membership plans. This happened from the moment we stepped into the lobby right up until our last day. We couldn’t even go to dinner without being approached as they had staff strategically placed! The rooms (after waiting 3 hours to check in!) were kept very clean and the view was wonderful. The pool and grounds were spotless and the staff friendly and helpful. We were pleased to see continuous beach patrol. We dont recommend venturing too far down the strip after dark, as the locals are very aggressive in selling their wares. Overall, I would suggest to the hotel to back off on the sales pitch, we went there to relax, not to invest in a time share." – Kathleen from Alexander, New York
"I have been coming to this hotel since the mid 80’s, when it was built. I am also a time-share member since 1992, which I bought not to rent it, but to enjoy a wonderful vacation every year at the most beautiful location in Cancun, i.e. the KRYSTAL. I have seen a lot of renovations over the years, the most recent was the addition of balconies to Tower A, which is a great improvement being able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view. Patricia, who is the concierge in the Krystal Club, is a great asset to this hotel. If you have a problem, she will go out of her way to fix it. Her young assistant “Luis” does a good job in the morning hours for breakfast. I know most of the waiters, like Balam, German, Venusciano, Asterio, Fernando, because they have been there for many years and give excellent service. I also have to mention Alfredo, the Mgr. of Aquamarina. He always has a smile on his face and, whatever you ask for, he will make it possible. All the bartenders work very hard and do a great job fixing your drinks. I know Jorge, Manuel, Roberto, Xavier, Juan and Miguel. I usually sit a the Lobby Bar and I was so glad that they finally have some LIVE MUSIC again, which I have been asking for a long time. In the 1980s they had two bands playing until midnight. Since I am older now, I enjoy some entertainment at the hotel, because I no longer desire the loud nightclub scene. I shared some old pictures with the staff and they enjoyed looking at their co-workers, when they were younger and without some grey hair, like Ernesto, the Room Mgr. and Rafael, the bell boy. I have one suggestion: Please, install some ice-machines on each floor so you do not have to call Room Service every time you want a cold drink. I had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Sr. Jose Luis. He is new at this hotel and I am sure he will do his best to make all the guests welcome. I am looking forward to returning to my second family and my home away from home, which is the Krystal in about 6 months. " – Monika from Houston, Texas
"The ceiling leaked. The patio sliding door didn’t lock. Our phone didn’t work. The front desk was rude. Very noisey. Never went in the dinning rooms as we didn’t get any information on them and no map of the hotel. Never again!" – Geri from Aitkin, Minnesota
"This is the third time we stayed in this hotel for a 2 week vacation. We stayed in the newer section of the hotel were all rooms have a wonderful beach front view with terrace. Just stay away from the old hotel area. Rooms are old and need restoration. Most of the staff were friendly and nice. A special recognition to the restaurant waiters Venustiano and Asterio, which were very friendly, helpful and provided us a first class service. If you stay in this hotel, we recommend to ask for these 2 great people. Just stay away from the time-share presentations and your stay will be nice and pleasent." – Enrique and Blanca from El Paso, Texas
"As members of Krystal Cancun, we were given a room in the oldest part of the hotel. We were in Tower A on the sixth floor. There is no balcony and the window had to be forced open (which they did fix after we complained) The room was dirty when we arrived. The floor was gritty with sand, the shower door was covered in soap scum, there was a strong mildew odor and stains on the sheets. The room in general is in desperate need of renovation. The walls are chipped and stained, the mirrors are scratched, and the furniture is all worn and faded. There is a coffee pot, blender, microwave and small refrigerator in the room, but they will not provide any coffee or bottled water. So it apparently is just for decoration. We purchased the all-inclusive package which is an additional cost above the normal hotel fees. The staff here seems horribly confused as to what is included and what is not included. You would get a different answer depending upon who you asked. We had to physically take the paper and show the staff that what we were requesting was indeed included in the package. Customer service in non-existent. If you decide that you want a soda pop during breakfast you cannot have it because the bar does not open until 11:00am and they apparently do not have access to soda pop if the bar isn’t open. The mindset here at Krystal is that you are here at their convenience and unless you are a potential time-share buyer. You are a bother to them. Krystal boasts of having three bars, which they do. What they don’t tell you is that two of the bars are only open until 5pm and the main lobby bar is only open until 11pm and it only has one bartender working. It is common to have customers waiting at least 20 minutes to get a drink. The bartender who was working there was Luis, and in all fairness he was truly busting his butt and doing the best that one man could do. Overall, I don’t think that we could have been more disappointed with our stay at Krystal and we plan to never come back here." – Tim and Jennifer from Dallas, Texas
"We purchased 5 days/4 nights and extended another 4 days because the resort just sounded so wonderful and we made it all inclusive! Well..we get there and they put us in the old bldg in a dirty room..windows/floors dirty, toilet overflowed, sliding glass door latch was about to fall off. We were very upset. They moved us to a new room. . .that night Disco music blared from 11pm-4am. No sleep. We called to complain and they said they would try and find us another room for the next night. We attended the time-share presentation and our rep said he would make sure we got in the new tower, they were all liars. We decided that we were not going to stay in this so called resort more than we had to. We cancelled the 4 additional days. We had to pay outrageous price to change our airline tickets but who cares,we were not about to pay $240 a night for another 4 nights in a Motel 6 type hotel room. The manager told us the blaring music was just something they had on Tuesdays..but on Thursday night at midnight we were awoken to screaming Mexican music. Well..for what you pay, you should have a first quality upscale resort, but this is not it. All-inclusive is a joke too…watered down drinks and soft drinks, buffet food in the morning is not hot. The beach is beautiful but if you are planning to go to Cancun, do not stay here. It’s a rip off. No one cares." – Katherine from Silver Spring, Maryland
"The hotel has two towers. The newer one is OK, but the older one is really bad. The food was plentiful but overpriced and not good. The pool and beach were OK, but crowded. We came back from outings three nights in a row and found that our room key cards would not work so we went down to the front desk to get them reprogrammed. They never told us why they kept malfunctioning. We needed housekeeping to send someone up one night to open a connecting door between our rooms that had closed on its own. It took three calls and over two hours to get someone to come to our room and fix it. Whatever you do, don’t go to their vacation club presentation. They make all sorts of fraudulent promises and do a very hard-sell. When they realize that you aren’t interested in a time-share program they try to sell their “vacation club” program. Don’t believe them. It’s all lies and paperwork that turns out to be non-binding. When the dust settles and you get home, you discover it is really an overpriced time-share. My salesperson Andrew, was particularly bad. He answered each question with lies and was very convincing. Beware! " – Joanne from Snohomish, Washington
