"Hotel recently changed names from Cancun Palace (to Hard Rock Cancun). We were there for our honeymoon. Stayed 4 nights/5 days. Much of the resort is currently being renovated/remodeled. (we were not aware this would be occurring and could have stayed at one of the affiliated Palace Resorts in Cancun for same price had we known!) One of the advertised restaurants were closed due to water damage. All 3 of the outdoor jacuzzis were closed. There is a major towel shortage. The first full day we were there no clean towels were left in our room when it was cleaned. After returning to our room after an afternoon at the beach, which was beautiful, we discovered we had no towels for our showers. We called 3 times across a 5 hour time span – still no towels. Went to front desk and yelled. Within 1/2 hour received 6 towels. Each of the 6 was either ripped or has holes in it. One was written on in black magic marker, 3 had visible stains. (They had, however, been laundered.) At least 3 days there were no towels available pool or beach side. Night before we were leaving met with our in-house hospitality manager. We didn’t know we had one previously but I guess due to our complaining she contacted us. She asked us if we had taken advantage of the special romantic dinner we were entitled to as part of our honeymoon package. We informed her we had never been advised of it. (This was typical – while the staff was very polite and hard working it was very difficult to get accurate information.) Air conditioning in our room was out 1 day and out in other areas of the resort other days. As we were packing up last morning we had no hot water for showers. Hopefully things will improve as the resort continues its transition but it was a fairly disappointing honeymoon for us." – Chris from Colden, New York
