The Tucancun Hotel is located right in the heart of the Cancun hotel zone. The Barcelo Tucancun Beach Hotel has four restaurants, three pools, a swim-up bar and a complete health spa.

"Beautiful resort. The beach is big and the water is clean. The superior Ocean View room had 2 balconies. The room was clean, the mini-bar was always full. We didn’t encounter any problems. The staff is great. Especially Vitalliano, Felix, and Eunice. You will find them at the pool area where there is a swim-up bar also. They were so friendly." – Janis from Bristol, Connecticut

"We stayed at your hotel May 26th through May 30th with a party of 9 people. We requested 3 rooms together, we received 2 rooms on the 5th floor and 1 room on the 8th floor, therefore separating our group of 6 teenage girls and 3 moms. The hotel manager was no help in placing the group together at any point during our stay. First he said there were no rooms available, to check the next day….which is what we heard every day after our initial check in. Then he said he may be able to move the person from the 8th floor, but would have to charge us an additional $38/night. Then, on Thursday he told us he may be able to move us from the 8th floor, but it would be an additional $50/night because it was going into the weekend. So we decided to move all of our girls together and one mother would stay with them each night….not what we wanted, but it helped our situation. All the hotel manager kept telling us was that he had upgraded our rooms to ocean-view (which is what we had requested to begin with) and the view was just beautiful….this was not solving the original problem.

We then made reservations to eat at the Don Quixote restaurant for Thursday night at 7:30 pm (for 9 people) under room 8028. When we picked up the ticket for dinner, it was for 8 people for 7:00 pm, room 8029. The maitre d was rude and said he did not have a reservation for our room number. We had to argue with him to get this straightened out and then he set up 2 tables, one with 5 chairs and one with 4 chairs, thus again separating the group of girls we had with us. So one of the girls moved a chair from the table of 4 and put it with the table of 5 so all the girls could sit together. The maitre d then came in and told the girl she could not sit there because it blocked the path for the waiter, there was plenty of room for the waiter to pass with a full tray. He ended up leaving her sit there. Then when the other 2 people in our party arrived the maitre d told them they could not enter the restaurant because the reservation was for 8 and there was already 8 people in there….there was only 7 and again the original reservation was made for 8….it was not our fault that your staff could not get things right. They ended up walking in after the maitre d went to sit other people. But the real kicker on the whole dinner was that after we were in there and throughout the whole dinner….the restaurant was NEVER completely full, there were probably 6-8 open tables the whole time we were in the restaurant. And the icing on the cake was that the table behind us was allowed to have 6 chairs around it….this after we were told we could not do this.

The rooms were kept clean, but the beds are hard and we had to frequently request wash cloths….one room would get them, but the other wouldn’t. I would not return to this hotel or recommend it to anybody. In fact we are meeting the our travel agent next week and will recommend to her that she not send any of her clients there either." – Karen from Jeffereson City, Missouri
