Tsunami Damage Update:
The Kona Village Resort pencils in a late 2015 re-opening.

Patrick Fitzgerald, president and chief executive officer recently spoke about the progress toward renovation and re-opening the Kona Village Resort.

Although no official plans have been made they are looking at a goal of the 4th quarter of 2017 as a re-opening. Fitzgerald said “Kona Village will see more than just its infrastructure upgraded prior to re-opening. Some of the projects currently being discussed include adding new restaurant spaces, building bigger pools, enhancing the spa and fitness facilities and renovating all of the hale accommodations.”

Fitzgerald went on to say: “My plan was to have the resort open by the end of 2015,” he said. “Is that possible? Yes. If we start work soon, we might be able to make the end of next year. It’s going to be hard, but we certainly want to open as soon as possible.”

The Kona Village Resort offers a unique vacation get-a-way with 125 thatched-roof “Hales.” These thatched Hale Huts are spaced for privacy and stand on stilts along the ocean, beach, lagoon and gardens. Together they form a Polynesian village of huts like those of old Hawaii. The Kona Village Resort is located on a secluded beach in a sheltered cove and is perfect for the traveler looking to get away. We say this because there are no televisions, air-conditioning, telephones or radios in the units, yet they are still refined and deluxe accommodations.

The Resort review below from David says is best. Kona Village Resort is a family atmosphere. Read the review below and you will understand what Kona Village Resort is all about. Tranquility, ocean, beach, activities and romance are the themes of the Kona Village Resort. This is a great resort for those looking to really get-a-way from the hustle of life and reconnect.

"I have stayed at Kona Village 13 times and hope for more, Kona Village has become like a home to me. The food is the best food I have ever tasted and the veiws from hale LT3 are come complete with waves crashing against the rocks. There is only one bad thing about Kona Village: that you have to leave. I would recommend Kona Village to everyone, especially families. It has even become a tradition for my family to go every thanks giving when it is not too hot and the Kalua turkey is available at the feast. Kona Village is a great experience that is refreshing and rejuvenating." – Martina from Novato, Calif
