Wisdom Learned While Traveling
The mind is the most powerful organ in your body; it takes the signals from your surroundings and adjusts its happiness accordingly. However, there are people like me, with a complex mind who see things beyond happiness, and that is human dignity. Yes, my mind estimates happiness and joy on a scale of human dignity.
Yes, I agree that happiness matters, but above all, the dignity of human behavior counts more than happy moments. Life has shown many ups and downs in my personal and professional life, but when you travel around the world, it shows you something else too. Along with a different perspective of things and life, you get the amazing of a chance to be a freethinker.
While traveling around the world, I learned to be hopeful and fearful at the same time. In another corner of the world you may find children dancing in the streets, and people won’t even bother to notice a person sitting beside them. The reality is both may or may not be equally happy.
This observation brings us to human dignity, how many of us stay true to ourselves. Life is a series of different phases; everyone shares different values and builds their surroundings according to their needs. However, what if someone violates those boundaries and tells you that you were wrong for your whole life? Would you accept that? No! No one is quick to take other people’s opinion without resistance. Traveling is much the same experience. If you don’t come back with confidence and answers, people will always leave you with more questions to ask from the world.
Complex Human Behavior
Human behavior is a complex thing. One person can claim that they don’t act a particular way in a specific situation, and you will witness that they are completely opposite from their word. We all guilty of it. While I was out on the road, I get to know more about how light I can feel, only when I take responsibility for my behavior. It taught me to respond, and never react. You have to watch your words and actions more closely when you are emotionally drained.

On the other hand, there are people with strong mental and emotional stability, and they don’t get offensive and whine about every little thing. They have a control of their emotions and mind, which helps them judge the situation, think it through with logic, and respond with wisdom.
When I am home, I can yell, cry and even say swear words. But out on the road with strangers, it tests the patience to let the thought process work through before it a bad thought slips out of the mouth! So, if you are flexible in your behavior, you will have strong survival extinct. In this case, you will never mind if things change. Your mind will be less stressed about every petty inconvenience. Rather, you will be able to take more time to think about productive outcomes and positive things.
You Never Have Enough Time
Let’s say you are in Italy, planning to discover each and every corner of the country. You end up walking up and down the streets of Rome and see new things each time. So, no matter how much time you have – it will never be enough. You will always want more time to go to places. This is real as you cannot commit to your job and family, and travel at the same time. You need to earn if you are going to spend. But if you are only “spending” how you are going to get back home? You must understand the advertisement on the Internet will shout out to you and provoke you to just take off and start traveling. Quit your job? No, never do that; it’s not worth it. You should plan your trip with an understanding of what you can afford. Keep your savings in mind.
A better idea would be to find a job that can help you travel as well as provide the ability to take time off. Some jobs will require you to travel for business. Instead of coming right back hone, take an extra day or two to explore the destination. Then again, not everyone is lucky enough to have this type of job. By not limiting yourself to specific places, you will learn the greatest lesson of life in that you can only achieve personal growth with a depth of experiences in life.
No One is Master of One!
We are all part of the bigger picture. We all somehow end up being a jack of all trades. It is nothing bad to have multiple skills which you do well, rather than only being an expert in just one! In Cricket, we have an all-rounder, and they are often high in demand, especially when other team members refuse to do play well. So, it’s a good thing that you don’t have time to be an expert or reach to the in-depth experience the be the absolute best in one particular area or skill.
The Best Can Be The Worst
Books and historical researchers can manipulate words and show you only the best of a culture in their blogs and books. The author or blogger might only write using words and descriptions approved in the marketing plans to grab attention by showing only the best and hiding the worst. But do your research because unfortunately, what may be positioned as the “best” may also be the worst. It may not be intentional. You may find that the author is just be a great writer. Bust, be skeptical about a place that is described as too perfect or with the very best traditions. For example, if you go to the UAE, you will see that they have a global village, blending peoples and cultures in one place. Many blogs say it is the best thing around the world. However, I find it a little soulless, with a lack of originality, and people may lack their own identity. No one should live in this kind of situation.
No One Cares What You Say or Do
In all honesty, no one gives a hoot about WHAT you think, HOW you think, and WHY you do it your way. Never give in to the hype about what people will think if you behave in a certain way. So, give your mind a rest, and let’s not invest in destructive thinking. If you have pissed off a co-worker, he probably won’t be thinking about you when he drives back home, in fact, he will forget it right away.
Overthinking about little things will not only kill your energy, but it will never let you move forward and embrace the other perspective of life. You will always sit there in one place and whine. So, take the first step and don’t let negative thoughts make a permanent space in your mind.
Final Thoughts
Traveling helps you remove the burden of external influences. You get the chance to meet different people and when you get the true power of being a stronger and better version of yourself. Finding yourself is actually meant to get out of your own boundaries and accept what the world is offering you.
