One of the cool things about the success of Review Resorts has been the cool team of authors that have contributed articles about the incredible places and amazing cultures on our wonderful planet.
Our vision for the website has always been to become a conduit for people-to-people communication so we can try to demystify other cultures, without all the politics and hate you see on other networks.
Ted Peck has been a social nudist since 1970 and has been part of AANR for about 20 years. He is married and has 3 children and 5 ½ grandchildren (one daughter is expecting). A former Presbyterian minister and public school teacher, he continues to teach, mostly math, as a private tutor about 40 hours a week. He’s been running in nude 5K’s as part of the AANR-SW nude running series for 16 years, has been a director and president of AANR-SW and is now the member trustee representing AANR-SW to AANR.
At an AANR board meeting a few years ago, someone said that office staff at a nudist resort should be dressed because it was a business. I said that it depends on what business you’re in. Everybody laughed and I lost the floor before I could explain what I meant. I meant that our business, the business of every nudist resort, club, or organization, revolves around an idea, the idea that clothes are unnatural, being naked is natural.
What do nudists do? We run, or walk, in Nude 5ks and we are at Wildwood Nudist Resort, near Decatur, TX, northwest of Fort Worth. Wildwood is exquisite with two solar heated pools, green lawns, neat trailer homes and houses, plus 25 or so acres of woods.
What Do nudists do? We Run, or Walk in Nude 5Ks. We do this five times a year: twice at Star Ranch near Austin; once each at Wildwood and Bluebonnet northwest of Fort Worth and at Oaklake Trails between Oklahoma City and Tulsa. There was a time that we had 8 races per year.
What do nudists do? We bowl naked. In my case I bowl once a year when Hill Country Nudist sponsor a nude bowling night at the oldest bowling rink in Austin. If it were a chance to be nude, I would play a game of Go Fish.
A few weekends ago I flew to Tampa and got a shuttle to near Land ‘O Lakes, FL. When I was not in the AANR meetings I roamed the Lake Como Resort grounds. If David Letterman knew about Lake Como, he would call it “a happenin’ place.”
Yes, Nudists really do attend meetings where they work to promote and protect family social nudism. At Star Ranch Nudist Resort I recently represented the Southwest Region of AANR International as I’m chair of the Planning and Goals Committee.
I went back to Faywood the day after Christmas. Some more recent history of Faywood: Several years after Elon and Wanda re-opened Faywood Hot Springs, Elon died. Wanda continued to run the place a couple of years while trying to sell it.
Faywood Hot Springs offers clothing optional soaking tubs and cabins for overnight accommodations. Faywood is between Deming and Silver City, New Mexico, about 25 miles north of I-25. There is a trail between the two cities for great clothing optional hikes in the desert.
Yes, some nudists really do get together for prayer, Bible study, devotions, breaking bread, and worship. I know there are Christians who think you can’t be a Christian nudist, and I know there are nudists out there who think nudists can’t be Christian.
Nudists Run in Naked 5Ks. There are individual nude 5K races many places in the country. I think most of the participants in the nude 5Ks are more into nudity than into running, though I understand that one of the regular runners (and winner) is nationally ranked in his age group.
I recently was on a fun boat trip with the Hill Country Nudists, a travel club in the Austin area, has sponsored this nude boat ride day trip. We had to stay clothed while the double-decker party boat was moored, but as soon as we were in the middle of the lake the clothes came off, much to the delight of the folks in some of the other boats that passed us!
