"We have stayed here in 2011. Over all its great. Staff is wonderful. Service is fantastic. Rooms were good. But you could tell they are closing for a remodel. We were used to pool service and a beer cart at the pool. Would we stay here again, yes. After October when remodel is finished, the place will be fantastic?"

"Stayed at the RIU Jalisco from Jan.12-19, 2013. There were 4 of us with 2 rooms. The check in was fast and our rooms were fantastic. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard so we had a great view of the mountains as well as the ocean. Front desk staff were great, I asked for extra pillows and a blanket and got them within a half hour. The entertainment staff were fantastic. George,Cissy and Alberto made sure that we were busy either playing games, doing aqua size or just with music. Never a dull moment with them. The nightly entertainment was also good especially the Michael Jackson show. So Good !! The staff in the restaurants were really good too always making sure you had what you wanted and if you needed anything they were right there to get it for you,so you did not have to get up for it. The rooms were very nice and the beds very comfy. My back felt great sleeping on them (I have an issue with hard beds, but these were great). The grounds were beautiful and very well taken care of. I watched a man every morning at around 5:30am mopping all the walkway tiles and then using a squeegee to make sure no one would slip on them. Another one would walk along with a bag and pick up any trash lying around. There was always someone picking up or cleaning up something. The bar staff were great too always making sure your drinks were good and picking up empty cups and emptying ashtrays. Overall, our experience at the RIU Jalisco was fantastic. We will definitely go back." – Wendy from St. Malo, Manitoba, Canada
"Worst resort ever stayed at. Had 6 in our party – 3 separate rooms. Filthy, stained bedspread – hard beds – hard pillows. Room was damp and smelly – A/C made the smell worse. All of the rooms smelled awful! Clothing took on smell of room and had to launder all clothing – both clean and dirty when returned home, due to the stench. Mold in the bathroom and ceilings. Buffet food was the same every day and got old in a hurry – poor quality of food. “Specialty Restaurants” – worse food than the buffet. Snack bar was a joke with pre-made, awful sandwiches and hamburgers and hot dogs. Wait staff very unfriendly and seemed not to like guests, unless you were Mexican. Loud and at night, could hear people screaming in the hallways – no soundproofing at this place! Best thing was pool area was nice, beach area was good, great weather and bartenders were nice – Thank GOD for alcohol!" – Diane from Oshkosh, Wisconsin
"The resort was amazing, as well as the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Food was great – anything and everything you could want to eat and drink. Coffee was great! Too many beverages to mention. Very nice shops right at the resort. Being from Manitoba it was so crazy to be walking inside the resort and looking out of the huge arched window with no window in them! Huge palm trees as you walk to your room. Entertainment was wonderful to watch. Rooms were nice, only in there to sleep/shower so very sufficent for that! Area to try to get your stuff dry on the balcony – lots of closet room, large shower. They offer trips and tours. I went whale watching – it was excellent, saw 11 whales, sea turtle and small rays. Over all I would highly recommend this resort. They even celebrated St. Patricks Day!! Who knew!" – Janis from Brandon, Manitoba
"Riu Jalisco was a nice resort, but very loud and not a place for a couple who would be looking for a quiet time away. Rooms were noisy. Many locals hang at the pool bar and disco bar making it very hard to get a drink or relax as they were very loud til 5am. Food was ok. Same thing everyday. Birds fly in and pick food off buffet. Other then that like I say if your single and want to party or have young kids who want to hang out in the pools this would be the place for them. Hope this helps." – Shelly from Cochrane, Alberta
"Awesome resort. We go to Mexico at least once a year and this was the best resort so far. It was a bit noisy in 2004 cause the Riu Vallarta was being built right next to it (Riu Vallarta is awesome been there 3 times). Food was great. Beach was great. Entertainment is always great at Riu Hotels. The beds where a bit uncomfortable, but you will find that everywhere you go. Staff were good. This place is a verrrrry kid friendly place to go. Very family orientated. Unbelievably good food. Stay at 1, play at another. Will go again." – Melanie from Edmonton, Alberta
"We had a great stay, good food, good drinks, comfy bed. Nice bartenders, waiters and waitresses. Nice pool and beach. Watch out for the maids. I got $800 of jewlery stolen from our room and the front desk seemed quite unconcerned and was a bit rude. Overall had an awesome time though!" – Keltie from Edmonton, Alberta
"Just returned from a short stay at the hotel. I have stayed at other Riu’s in Mexico and they were much nicer than this hotel. The food was very ordinary. Nothing to brag about. The worst was the room. The bedspread and sheets were stained and especially the bedspread was very dirty. The bed was hard as concrete and was difficult to sleep. The design of the hotel caused the noise in the halls from people talking to seem as if they were at your door which goes on at all hours and makes it difficult to sleep because of the echoing. The pool was dirty and it did not appeal to me to go in. The beach and the grounds were the best to rate here at this facility." – Denise from Phoenix, Arizona
"We would like to thank all the staff for exceeding our expectations in particular, a very special thank you to: Jackie, Caesar, Roberto, Jorge, Candy, Eva and our housekeeper that surprised us by placing the warm blue blanket on our beds. The restaurants always had exceptionally hot food that took away any fears of food contaminations plus there was such a great selection to choose from that decisions were sometimes hard to make, but that was a good thing. The entertainment was generally good and the entertainment staff tried their hardest to please and were open to criticism. Kudos to them! The biggest fears we had was sanitation and they were quickly diminished once we arrived. Great admiration for the cleaniness of this establishment. Anyone who may have second thoughts of going to the Riu Jalisco should not even give it a second thought. The staff from the housekeeping to the management are helpful and obliging and any little disappointments are quickly resolved. Thank you very much one and all at the RIU Jalisco and see you again soon." – Mark and Dale from Calgary, Alberta, Canada
