Every month the Hawaii Visitor and Convention Bureau announce statistics about new tourist arrivals that smash previous records. Hawaii is indeed the hottest vacation destination this year. Much of this increased demand from both the east and west comes can be attributed to the energy generated by the hotel properties. They have used the recent recession as an opportunity to update and renovate providing entirely new vacation experiences.  Here’s a sample of improvements the Hawaii Hotels are offering.

Fairmont Orchid Hawai’i located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island has just completed comprehensive room renovations that create what they call a “Luxurious Guest Experience.”  This is the most comprehensive guest room renovation project since the resort’s opening in 1990. The new room décor is modern and luxurious with clean lines and incorporating uniquely Hawaiian elements into subtle touches throughout the space. Rooms are highlighted with the work of esteemed island artists and subtle, textured fabrics and wall colors to provide a quiet elegance. In addition to guest rooms, the Fairmont Orchid’s 32,000 square feet of indoor meeting space has also been renovated as well.  The resort’s award winning “Spa Without Walls” offers all the popular treatments and massages in private outdoor waterfall Hale huts. Did anyone say Destination Wedding in Waikiki? The Hyatt Regency Waikiki is the perfect venue to host your destination wedding reception after it invested $2 million in a 3,087 square foot meetings and events which will be the ideal location to hold Waikiki weddings, business meetings and events.  The new Kou Ballroom is slated to be completed in early September 2013 and will feature a Lutron intelligent lighting system, Sharp flat screen television, Creston touch screens and keypads, and a Sony projector, positioning the ballroom as an ideal location to hold weddings and events on Oahu.  This is all right on the heels of a $13 million renovation of the third floor public areas completed early last year. The Hyatt Waikiki is located right in the center of Waikiki on Kalakaua Boulevard and directly across the street from the beach.  The ocean views from the Hyatt Waikiki rooms are spectacular.

The incredible “All-Suite and Villa” Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Resort has always been one of the finest properties on Maui.  The Kea Lani, located in Maui’s prestigious Wailea resort area has completed a renovation that started back in 2009 in the depth of the recession. After four years and over $30 million invested in resort-wide improvements that included every suite, villa, pool deck, ballroom, corridor and elevator. In December of this year (2013) the Fairmont Kea Lani will unveil the brand new luxurious Willow Stream Spa inspired by the unique ingredients, traditions and calming energy only found on Maui. The new spa will encompass over 9,000 square feet for treatment rooms with state-of-the-art treatment tables, experience showers, manicure and pedicure stations and the Pālolo (Mud) Bar. Additionally, the resort has unveiled its new Kō Restaurant featuring a fusion cuisine that combines Hawaiian, Chinese, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese dishes, many of which are island family recipes that have been passed down for generations.  With these and other improvements, the Fairmont Kea Lani has reasserted its claim as one of the top resort in the world.
The Disney Aulani Resort in Ko Olina

The new Disney Aulani Resort in the new Ko Olina resort area east of Pearl Harbor and next to Paradise Cove Luau has set a new level of resort experience. Steve Griswold, professional travel agent at told us that the Disney Aulani will soon offer more accommodations with the completion of additional rooms and villas later this year. Additionally, Griswold added that the Disney Character Breakfast is now be offered 5 days a week (except Mondays and Thursdays).  The Disney Aulani will also be adding two new food service locations, including an ocean-view poolside venue serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a beachside quick-service eatery with convenient grab-and-go selections.
