"What a wonderful vacation! Thanks in part to front desk clerk Bernardo super guy, most accommodating and great personality! The dining options need to be modified to avoid clustering in the more popular dining rooms. Great beach area." – Tom and Dianne from Hometown, Pennsylvania
"The staff expects tips for everything, they almost corner you and make it very uncomfortable and not even an actual tip but rather a mandatory thing. Most of the staff were very nice but they expect a tip just for being nice. I would be more inclined to tip them if they didn’t make it seem as though it were mandatory. The whole place has this funky smell to it, even the buffet had this smell to it that was even in the food, it was almost overwhelming and I was glad to leave. The food is sub-par except for the specialty restaurants but even those had that funky smell to the food, its probably from the water they use?? I was dying to eat something that didn’t have that smell to it. They try to charge American prices for everything, I thought we were in Mexico, not the USA. Don’t buy anything on or at the resort, they try to squeeze every penny they can out of you. I priced some items one day and the next day at the same place the prices were double what they were the day before……ridiculous. Convert dollars to pesos before you get to the resort, the exchange rate was roughly 13 pesos to 1 dollar but at the resort it’s 11 pesos per dollar…….ridiculous. We had scheduled a catamaran trip but my wife started running a fever that morning and I had to run and grab her some tylenol to reduce her fever, she was very sick so I called and asked to cancel the trip, they would not refund our money…….ridiculous (100.00USD per person) They forgot to turn there clocks back for daylight savings and we went to a specialty restaurant and were an hour early, they were very rude about it and it almost felt like they were kicking us out. My wife was very upset with our treatment so we did not go back at our scheduled time. By far this is not a 5 star resort, maybe a 2-star resort with very nice grounds. About the only thing nice about this place are the grounds and the ocean, but beyond that there is not much to talk about." – Chris from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin
"We walked into the Iberostar and immediately fell in love with this hotel. This particular Iberostar has two hotels in one. The restaurants, pool, show room are all shared the both hotels. The names are “Iberostar Tucan” and “Iberostar Quetzal.” We were given a room in the Quetzal section – one building away from the beachfront rooms. We couldn’t get any closer to beach unless we paid for a ocean-front room. I was very happy. The Iberostar is a TOP Quality hotel. If you don’t know anything about this particular hotel, check it out. It’s like living in a jungle. There are monkeys in the trees, fountains, Peacocks, Flamingos, Turtles, Chickens, Roosters, Parrots and Tucan birds. The restaurants have fountains/waterfalls around them. The two lobbies are open air, beautiful and dimly lit at night, as well as the little paths that lead to the rooms, which are all thatched hut buildings. Actually all of the building within the entire resort are all thatched roofs. The beach is just as nice as the beach at Sandos. The people at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. Our Lomus rep at Iberostar, Joel, was just as helpful and friendly. Again, I want to thank Funjet Vacations for making it possible for us to change our hotel to the Iberostar Tucan and for the great customer service that they provided to us as customers." – Kay from Gaithersburg, Maryland
"The people were awesome…meaning entertainers, food, rooms, pool, waiters. Believe me everything was awesome. If you go there I garantee you will go back. Iberostar Quetzel Tucan is a paradise. 5 minutes to beautiful Playa del Carmen. Also could take ferry to Cozumel, . could go visit Cozumel Iberostar, eat there for free. Try it it’s worth your money." – Lino from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
