"My Wife and I began our trip with being ignored by the hotel staff. After paying $3,000 dollars for a nice room we were placed in a suite poolside with a loud obnoxious restaurant in front of our balcony. No choice and no one to help us. I spoke with the manager and was promised a phone call either way. We stayed 10 days. I never received that phone call. I actually went to him a week later to point out his mistake. This was off season and the hotel was empty, yet they were not willing to accommodate us with something special to make our vacation memorable. We booked this trip five months in advance, but according to the Genreal Manager, it was clear that they did not care about service at this hotel. We are merely a dollar sign to these people.
A few days into the trip we rented a kayak from the Villa del Palmar, a neighboring/connected hotel, and was hit by a large boat in roped off "safe" waters. We were almost chewed up by the propellers, and my wife was hit in the head by the boat. I thought she was dead as I spun in circles in a crash/fetal position, waiting for the boat to pass. When I was done screaming at the boat driver, I saw my wife and she was alive. I was exhausted and realized I had a far swim to the beach. NO ONE from the staff came in the water to rescue us. In fact two guys who were on the staff laughed at us as we panicked. If it werent for some americans who swam out to save us we might be DEAD! Someone from the hotel staff came out to help us, but instead of grabbing my wife, he saved the kayak from drowning. Once we arrived at the beach a man who worked for the hotel did not ask if we were okay. He picked up a phone and talked for a few minutes only to hang up and tell us how much we owed for the Kayak. This hotel is ruthless and will stop at nothing to collect their money. The hotel had no concern for a our safety and wanted to be paid for the damages to the kayak within five minutes of us leaving the water where we almost drowned. They didn't offer us water, or towels. An American had to fight to get my wife some water for free. Trust me, Im not exaggerating when I say this place is a nightmare." - David from Syosset, New York

"Our stay at the Estancia was wonderful! The service was great, the hotel was beautiful and the weather was perfect! The rooms were big and every day after we came back to our room from the pool or the beach, our rooms were taken care of with fresh towels, the beds made and everything was clean. I give the Villa la Estancia Five Stars." - Jim & Kathy, from Poway, CA
