Here's our Grand Velas Vallarta Review

The Grand Velas Vallarta is an all-suite resort set among beautiful gardens. The Grand Velas Vallarta has two large pools which are connected by a water canal with small waterfalls serving as a soothing backdrop. The 267 renovated mini-suites are furnished in 4-star standards and each has a kitchen.

This resort has a very strong time-share pitch. The Velas Vallarta offers a program called the Gold Crown all-inclusive option, which features food and beverages. This Gold-Crown program is promoted quite heavily. The Velas Vallarta All-Suite Resort Hotel is a very popular vacation resort in Puerto Vallarta, however you will be given the "pitch."

Facilities:
267 Hotel Rooms, Large Pool Area, Lounge chairs beach towels, Swim-up Bar, Lobby Bar, Pool Bar, 5 Restaurants. Extensive Beach Facilities, Fitness Center & Day Spa, Activities, Shops.

Remarks:
"Like a previous post....if you're thinking of visiting ANY of the Velas resorts, do yourself a favor and don't go through one of their high pressure sales pitches to buy. They'll lie to you like there's no tomorrow. Especially when they tell you how you can rent your weeks out to help pay for your purchase. But don't be fooled by them. Those weeks DO NOT RENT! I've been waiting for my weeks to rent since I first purchased at the Velas Vallarta in October 2006. Google Velas scam and see what others are saying. It's a nice looking place but don't trust these people. They're not honest. They really lack integrity. I've created two blogs devoted to the cause: Google: velasresortsscam. Check them out and follow the links to other forums to see what others are saying." - Duke from Spokane, Washington

Remarks:
"We stayed at Velas Vallarta 3 times and really liked the resort. We felt it was very family oriented and a fun place to stay. The food was good, and the service was great. However the time-share presentation was a scam. We were told at the presentation that we would get our money back through rentals and we could get an anunity to get our money back. None of this was true. Unfortunately we upgraded on our second visit and put even more money into the time-share. On our third visit they told us that everything we had been told was not true, but for $22,000 we could get $6,000 back each year. They told us many lies again at that time. We still had a balance on some of the second deal. So we wrote them a letter and told them we would not pay the balance and outlined all the lies and misrepresentations. We had not heard from them until September 2008, when they sent us a letter indicating they have canceled our contract for non-payment. I have called them - and hope to get this resolved. When we were there the third time they quickly moved us to a back room to keep us from being heard by others. I think if we all went down there and told the guests what was really going on we could make a real mess for them. I would never buy anything from them, and I am willing to be a part of a class action lawsuit if many people have been scammed." - Vicki from Pleasant Grove, Utah

Remarks:
"If you plan to spend your vacation in Puerto Vallarta, here's something to be wary of. Velas Vallarta is a lovely place and some of the staff members are accomodating but be wary of their marketing schemes. Velas Vallarta has a marketing scheme where an employee appears to be assisting you but will actually lead you right to their sales rep. The rep will then offer you a discount voucher on an event or dinner in exchange for attending a 1-1/2hr presentation on fractional ownership (timeshare). Everyone always warns you to avoid those kinds of scams on timeshares etc. and I would listen to their advice. It's not worth the discount. We ended up going through a grueling 3-1/2 hour presentation and when we weren't able to make the event and went to get our refund, the service was unacceptable. They didn't have enough change and they sent me to get change for them at the front desk. They offered no names or phone numbers for people to contact if you had any questions or complaints. There are plenty of other hotels with comparable environments and much better service." - Julia from Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Remarks:
" Be very careful in purchasing a timeshare at Velas Vallarta. One of the sales managers promised us many things including helping with a permanent rental and jobs as salespeople at Velas. He took the rental money from the rental agent even though we had a signed and receipted contract for $2,400. He took the money as he had convinced her to rent us an apartment that was not available and he would have almost 3 more months to find us a rental while he has the money in his pocket. When I discovered this on my way to move to PV he has refused to communicate with me on the phone or by email. This is fraud, theft and deceptive business practices. Have any others of you had this happen to you?" - Polly & Allen from Chestertown, Maryland
