Sheraton Kauai Hotel

The Sheraton Kauai completed a $16 million revitalization in April of 2012. The 394 rooms at the resort have been rennovated with new soft goods, drapery and carpets. The pool has been expanded and tiered to create a water playground. This resort is located on 20 acres of tropical landscaped gardens on beautiful Poipu Beach. The pool is a bit small but the beach area is one of the best on Kauai. Poipu Beach was voted one of America's best beaches by USA Today.

The Sheraton Kauai is a great beach-front hotel. There are two wings of this hotel, Ocean and Garden. If you opt for the lesser cost Garden Wing, you will be set back across a service road away from the beach area. The Sheraton Kauai Hotel is one of the the better hotels in the Poipu Beach area.

Facilities:
394 Rooms, 4 Floors, Air Conditioning, 2 Pools, Childs Pool, Jacuzzi, 3 Restaurants Nightly Entertainment, 3 Tennis Courts, Fitness Center, Sundry Shop

"The Sheraton at Poipu beach in Kauai is a nice place to stay when visiting Kauai. I have no complaints and the staff was always very helpful and friendly. The hotel/resort is one of the older ones in that area, so the pool is smaller and the amenities and facilities are as well. Older doesn't mean worse, it just means that you can tell it needs a little updating (which they are currently working on with ongoing renovations). They recently finished a new pool next to the beach, which is very nice; however, due to land limitations, its still not very large compared to other hotel/resorts on the island. The Sheraton provides you with all of the necessary amenities and activities to keep your vacation fun and relaxing. If you're looking for old school charm, gardens, friendly staff, a nice semi-secluded beach, beautiful grounds and gardens, then check out this Sheraton at Poipu or right next door is the Kiahuna Plantation (which both seem to be built around the same time); however, the Kiahuna does not have central air conditioning and lacks some of the other amenities of the largers hotels/resorts. In summary, the Sheraton at Poipu in Kauai is a good place to visit on a reasonable budget if you want all of the finer amenities out of a resort, but don't want to pay higher prices compared to some of the other larger and newer resorts on the island. Also, this hotel/resort is about a 20-25 minute drive north of Port Allen where most snorkel and marine adventures depart (Captain Andys, Blue Dolphin, and HoloHolo Charters). Most other activities and island adventures are to the north of Poipu about 45 minutes away including the Lihue airport, kayak adventures, Walmart/Costco, Macys, and expansive shopping centers. There is currently a construction project on one of the main highways between Lihue and Poipu, which slows traffic down during the middle morning to mid afternoon. In my travel time I included the delay. Normally the trip would take about 30-35 minutes. Enjoy your travels to Kauai!" - Sean from Lehi, Utah

"Overall the Sheraton Kauai is an awesome resort. July is a busy time of year and the ocean pool is way too crowded with children. The beach is also extremely crowded. The Garden pool is hardly used so you can have a very relaxing time there! Restaurants are incredible, but very expensive. The location is well within a short drive to other restaurants etc. If I had a complaint... the parking is horrible and fills up quickly. As I said, overall the Sheraton Kauai is an awesome resort!" - Ed from Lake Tahoe, California

"We came to Kauai on our Honeymoon and we were very happy with the staff at The Sheraton hotel. They were all very freindly and willing to help with anything we needed. On the first day we talked to a lady who helped us plan out our week for the different activities we did such as a Catamaran tour of the Napali Coast, The Luau, The Helicopter Tour, it was all worth it. The restaurants at the hotel are excellent. The staff in the restaurants were very friendly and willing to tell us what was good to eat, since we werent used to the types of fish in Hawaii. Our experience was GREAT and we are planning to come back to the same hotel in about 5 years!!!! Thanks!!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is wanting to stay on Kauai. It was a great Honeymoon experience." - Pete & Ashley from Springfield, Illinois
