"To begin, I booked a room with a king bed. Upon check-in, the front desk assistant informed me that they had no record of such a booking for a king bed. He also stated that the hotel was fully occupied instructing us to come back in the morning for a room change. Our first room was not maintained and was very dirty. The building was connected to the lobby which resulted in extreme levels of noise from intoxicated guests throughout all hours of the night. We did not sleep that night. In the morning we went to the breakfast buffet and found the food to be cold. The same was true for lunch and dinner. We were not satisfied with the service, rooms and food and decided to upgrade to the Grand Oasis for 280 USD. We were told this upgrade would give us ocean-view with newer rooms, better service and a wider selection of food. It is to my displeasure to say that I spent the money to upgrade for $280 USD let alone spend $2,400 USD for the whole trip. The services that were promised were non-existent. The room was a complete downgrade with dirty floors, a puddle around the toilet, dirty mirrors and a dirty mattress. The rest of the buffets had a lingering odor that deterred anyone from the food. We chose to dine at a Brazilian steak house one night where my girlfriend ate the sirloin steak. Immediately after consuming the meat she became ill experiencing uncontrollable stomach issues and projectile vomit. Unfortunately we were forced to use the private medical services of the hotel. Upon arrival to the medical office where the doctor was supposed to be bilingual, yet spoke no English, my girlfriend was losing consciousness and the doctor refused to give her water. The medical facility was far under-equipped and even lacked a wheel chair. I carried her to the restroom where she continued to lose consciousness while experiencing stomach issues. The doctor offered no help. We were charged $310 USD (which he put in his pocket) for terrible services rendered and for medicine to treat stomach cramps and stomach issues. My girlfriend was forced to stay in bed for the remainder of the trip. This was the worst vacation I have ever taken." - Stan from Congers, New York

"If you are into a very quiet place, then I would recommend this place. However if you have kids, they will not like it here at all. This resort does not have any music, any fun nights, or anything special. The first room that I had in this resort smelled very bad and the air was not working. I was moved to another room and in that room the door to the balcony didn't open, the safe didn't close and there weren't any electricity plugs. As well as no Internet access. If you are into any sports or looking for fun, the prices are very expensive. I would not recommend the sub sea because you will get sea sick. Overall I did not like this resort and I think they should fix up this place. The only thing that I did like was the beach." - Claudia from Highland Park, New Jersey

Remarks:
"Should be at least one person at the front desk who speaks "fluent" English. The 3 buffet restaurants were excellently presented, but I think the raw vegetables were washed in local water, and anything with beef or chicken tasted like burnt rubber. Since it was all-inclusive the two non-buffets (a Mexican restaurant that served the most hideous concoctions I have ever eaten and a mediocre Italian restaurant) should have been an up-sell - perhaps a high-end premium steak grill with a charge- say $20 for guests and $45 for non guests. The cruse lines do that. Careis, a formal dress only restaurant should also have been an up-sell (the wine was)- because again the meat would have been refused by a Canadian food bank. All in all the place has immense potential. I really mean that it just has really poor organization and severely untrained staff. Also get rid of the garden in the grand pyramid. It makes the whole place stink like a green house. The garden looks great, but the partially open roof does not allow the dank earthen stink to escape. Consequently what looks like a 5-star marble palace - smells funky like a 0-star low end flop house. I paid $42 dollars US for two very small tubes of suntan lotion, (which gave me a rash) - Rip Off does not even begin to describe that amount of no value up-sell. 1970 CRT TVs to view $15 movies is plain stupid. I "would" have watched at least one movie, but not on a 17 inch crt TV. The room had the worst paint job. I would have left the heavy wrought iron table and chairs, but replaced the 100 year old folksy heavy wood with black modern to match the marble floors and painted the walls beige, again to match the marble floors. Basically the rooms should have resembled the VIP lounge And Internet Cafe - which was how the wholes place "should" have looked and smelled." - Duncan from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

"I don't normally write reviews, but our experience at the Oasis Cancun was so rough I feel like others need to hear about it. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon hoping for a romantic getaway. It was anything but that. We got there between noon and one on Saturday. When we went to check-in, although there were not that many people in the lobby, it took over an hour for us just to get to the counter. When we finally did make it to the counter, we stood there for an additional thirty minutes. I could tell there was some confusion among the staff regarding our room, but I wasn't completely sure what was going on. I could see on the guy's computer screen our reservation. It has the room number and said one king bed in a non smoking room. This is exactly what we asked for so I wasn't too worried. Well we finally got our key to the room and we couldn't have been happier to just go up and take a little nap since we were exhausted from our long flight. When we got to the room though, we were in shock at what we found. The room was barren, with only four concrete walls that were blank. No artwork, no mirrors, no decorations. Kind of weird but whatever right? We then noticed the bed, or should I say beds? We had asked for one king size bed in a non-smoking room. What we got was two double beds pushed together in a smoking room. So much for romance. We then went in to the bathroom where we found additional surprises. Not only was there little hairs all over the bathroom sink, but it was short, dark, wiry, and curly. That kind of hair only comes from certain places on a person's body, and that was pretty gross. The bathtub seemed fairly clean, but you could only use the shower since the plug for the bath had been pulled out and lay there all rusted out on the edge of the tub.

Well, the room was a challenge, but since it was our honeymoon we decided to make the best of it and have fun at the beach. That was the only good part of the resort, as the beach was beautiful. When it was about dinner time, we went to find something to eat at one of the restaurants. We walked to three different places and all were packed with lines out the door. We ended up waiting two hours outside just to be seated, and then when we finally ordered our food, we had to wait another hour for them to bring it to us, and it was definitely not food worth waiting for. We thought by going in July, spring break would be over and we wouldn't have to deal with that type of crowd. We were very wrong. Every one there seemed to have more alcohol than they could handle. People were falling all over the place, passing out in the bushes and hollering for no reason. This went on all night and since we were right above the lobby and our door was so thin, it sounded like it was right outside our room. Neither of us could sleep and finally at about 2 A.M. I went down to the lobby to demand a different room that wasn't so noisy. When I got down there, I saw another couple just ahead of me in line complaining about the same thing. When I finally had my turn, they told me all the rooms were already filled but to come back in the morning. We went down there first thing in the morning and after a few minutes debate, they told us they would send us to a different resort. We were skeptical at first, but decided anything would be better than where we were so we went with it. Turns out it was a beautiful, peaceful resort that we absolutely loved. So, a word to the wise, NEVER stay at the Oasis Cancun if you're looking for a romantic or even a family getaway." - Daniel from Queen Creek, Arizona

"This resort is terrible. Service is questionable, advertised restaurants either were closed totally or posted hours were reduced and advertised pool activities didn't exist. Wosre was the fact that they "falsified" alchol. Jim Beam bottles did not contain Beam, Bacardi was not Bacardi and even draft Corona was not Corona. When questioned, management lied and disputed facts - even when shown straight drinks from Beam bottles from 3 different locations in the resort were different color and different tastes - and none were Beam. The management seems corrupt, non-caring and obviously does not care about customer satisfaction. I travel over 50+ days per year and this is the worst place I have stayed in years. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!" - Jeff from Heath, Ohio

"We were there from Oct. 20 - 26, 2008. On 10-21-08 our room #515 flooded with an inch and a half of water. Went to the front deck to tell them and they said it would be taken care of. Our two pieces of luggage got soaked. When I asked them to come to the room to see the damage no one would come. We had to move our own belongings with pillow cases or out in the open on one of their bellcarts, through the lobby with a lot of guests there. It was very embarising to my wife an myself. We paid for a room with a balcony and a king size bed. Didn't get that. I also asked to have a claim form filled out about our luggage, they played stupid, no form. I took pictures of all what I could. Now that we are home our travel agent has also given us the run around about our luggage damage. They don't want to see the damage either. We spent approx. 12 hours of our vacation trying to fix this wrong, drying our luggage with a hair dryer and trying to get the room we had paid for which we did not get. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone." - Bob from Boyertown, Pennsylvania

"My boyfriend and I stayed at the Sens Del Mar June 30-July 3. This was our second time visiting Mexico but our first visit to Cancun. We decided to stay at the Grand Oasis due to its close proximity to the airport, the idea that it was an adult only resort and the reasonable price of the trip. Our first impression of the hotel was good. Its outside appearance was clean. The hotel receptionist appeared friendly and helpful. We were greeted and checked into our room immediately upon arrival. The room was clean, however we were told we were getting a lagoon view room, but instead looked right into the backside of the resort next door (We didn't complain since we weren't planning on spending too much time in there anyway). The pool was great. The buffet was ok. Would get old after a while. The Brazilian restaurant was impressive. The room service was decent. The room was usually cleaned by 3:00PM and we never had a problem getting clean towels. Like I said, our first impression was good. On our last afternoon, our impression of the hotel and staff immediately changed. At 3:00 maid service came to our room to clean. I was at the pool but by boyfirend was in the room. He let them in and came to join me at the pool. At 5:00PM we returned to our room to prepare for dinner. It was at that time we discovered that $120 in cash and his $700 watch was missing from the cargo pockets of his shorts, which was at the bottom of our luggage (both items were there prior to him leaving the room). We contacted the front desk immediately. They really didnt seem to care. They sent two security guards to our room (who went through all of our things) and told us they would get back to us the next morning with a report of who was in our room during those times. We informed them that we would be leaving by 1:00PM. The next morning we went down to see if there was any information. They didnt have any. We asked about the report and they said it would be ready after 1:00 (We once again said we were leaving at 1:00). They said come back in 2 hours. We went back. They told us they couldnt give us any information and that the report was for their records. Instead they gave us a copy of the incident report we filled out. Ar that time they said that nothing could be done because we werent using their lockbox (which was never offered to us and we later found out that they had charged different prices to two different couples). I know that nothing can be done to replace the money or watch but my point in writing this review is to ensure that it doesn't happen to anyone else. That specific incident ruined our entire trip. The fact that the hotel manager and staff didn't apologize or show concern was frustrating. We felt like we got the run around and we spent our last night and early morning feeling upset and violated. I don't believe this was the first incident of this nature. I understand that the lockbox is in the room for a reason but there also has to be some line of trust between the guests and the hotel staff. If there is a concern of this happening, the lockbox should be included in an all-inclusive vacation." - Cara from Newark, Ohio

Hours later when we returned to our room to take showers, we discovered that the bath tub was plugged up and so was the toilet. We waited for hours for someone to come and after making several calls to the front desk. My husband was even told by one of the girls at the front desk, "What do you want me to do?" The night manager did not even want to take our calls. Finally at 12:42 am they decided to move us. The handy man told the manager that the room was too dangerous. The night manager was very un-professional and so were several members at the reception desk.We had been told that the hotel was completely booked and could not move us earlier. They did upgrade us to an Ocean view room, but we will never stay there again due to their lack of customer service." - Elizabeth from Concord, Calif

"I had recently traveled to Cancun Mexico for the first time with my husband, sister-in-law and her hubby. I must say the hotel Sens Del Mar looked amazing as advertised on the internet, but that was it. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a really delicious drink and were then greeted by one of the reps of the hotel, she welcomed us and immediately started to set us up with a schedule of what our vacation would consist of. She insisted we schedule for a welcoming breakfast at another sister hotel, mind you we were only staying for 4 days and 3 nights. We were on vacation and the last thing were were worried about was following an itinerary. The hotel seemed really old it was very humid and clammy, the air conditioner made feel even worse. My sister-in-law's husband had to even fix the toilet on his vacation. This is the 5 apple rating they gave this hotel? This hotel is the worst I've been to. The grounds and pool are lush and beautiful, but that's where it ends. POOR SERVICE!!! I SAY!!! It smells of mold. Its absolutely a great time if you love paying for everything even if they call it All-Inclusive. The scenery was beautiful and the grounds were kept immaculate, but it seemed like they took better care of their ash trays with the neat little symbol of there hotel in it better than they took care of there guests! We had to eat out every night after the first. In all, we had a great time in Cancun but it wasn't because of the service and accommodations of the Sens Del Mar. I can't forget, we did encounter two friendly gentlemen Victor and Josui they were great." - May, Ariel, Maddy & Paul from New York City, New York

"We had a very uncomfortable experience. The water in the room was dirty/yellow and rusty. The room was humid and damp. The internet pictures make this hotel seem as though you would be going on an Asian experience. Far from that. The lobby was dark and gloomy. The night desk was totally ridiculous. We tried to phone the front desk for a morning wake-up call and I guess they went to bed when the guest did. The second night my husband had to literally go do there to get them to respond to his no-answered phone request. We had to actually tip the maid for extra towels. They would only give you towels for the moment. Not expecting you to shower or wash your face on the next morning. We were so disappointed on the second night that we went to the front desk requesting to be transferred to one of the sister hotels. Good there were no vacancies, speaking with other guest at the pool, their accommodations were worst. The liquor was the worst that you could drink. We actually went to town to buy our own. The AlaCarte restaurants were slow and had to make reservations days in advance for sorry service. The buffet was the best of their food service. If you have ever stayed at a 5-star hotel dont go here. We had to use the bottle water that they did supply to wash your face and brush your teeth. I did a survey in the hotel and they phoned me to see if there was anything that they could do to have me return and my reply was NO! We even hung our swimwear out to dry and they never dried. I would never do this again. Oh, the worst of all we had to attend timeshare promotion that was to last 90 minutes, well it was 4 hours...........we were booked through LUXURY Vacations. Other guests said that they left them at the presentation with no ride back to the hotel. I'm not sure who they book with. It was a horrible experience." - Jackie & Jay from Houston, Texas

"We flew into Cancun on Wednesday, May 21 with reservations for two couples at the Oasis Palm Family Resort. This trip was to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary and our First Honeymoon. Once we arrived, the person at the concierge desk informed us that we had to check-in with the person around the corner from the desk. We dragged our luggage to the other area and then were instructed to follow her to the desk where we first began. They looked at our reservations and informed us that our two ocean-view rooms that were confirmed back in March, that there was only one room that was available with the ocean-view. Then they looked again and said that they could put us up but encouraged us to stay at their other hotel that had a "5-STAR" rating. They finally encouraged us and we went to this "5-STAR" hotel, the Oasis Grand Playa. Then looking at it, we think that they overbooked their rooms and there was another family waiting to see if a room would come up for their extended family to join them. Once we arrived, we were greeted and presented drinks, all except two of us because some other people took them and were never accommodated with two more. Whatever! After that, you were pretty much on your own. No more hospitality or service. Every evening we were not be able to get into our room and then have to go downstairs to have them correct the problem. This was EVERY NIGHT! One afternoon, we returned from one of our excursions and turned down the bed and noticed that our sheets weren't changed and then noticed that they didn't clean the coffee pot or leave new coffee. The service was aweful even after trying to keep our cool and talk with the manager. Our talks were falling on deaf ears, they didn't care. Even after telling him how much we have heard about the hospitality and the service and that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. They just didn't care! The food was okay if you like Home Town Buffet. The drinks were okay at one of the bars. Entertainment? Everything pretty much shut down after 9 p.m. Their disco was a joke. We weren't the only couples that experienced terrible service. One other couple was also shuffled off from the Oasis Family Resort. Another couple experienced the same thing with the room key and their air conditioner. This resort just didn't care. We would not recommend this hotel or any of their sister hotels to anyone, unless you are retired and don't want to do a thing. But then again, we heard that this hotel is hopping when school is out. I say "You go kids, tear it up!" We did make the best of our trip and renewed our vows at the Cancun Palace." - Manny & Markly from San Jose, California

"My husband and I went to Cancun for the first time this March and we stayed at the Grand Oasis Cancun. It is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and very clean amentities. We felt very safe at the hotel as there are security guards everywhere. There is a lot of restaurant options and they are all very good. If you want a spot on beach, you have to go down very early in the morning. You will be approached by the staff to listen to an 1 1/2 hr presentation on buying a "time share". My husband made a deal that we would listen if we were given 2 bull fighting tickets and a bottle of tequilla. They agreed, and they were not pushy at all when we said that we were not interested. The Oasis Cancun hotel- which is located in the same complex was full of spring breakers and they were very loud, but in our hotel they were not allowed in- even into the bar- so it was very quiet. There were 2 bartenders in the bar and they were wonderful and remember you. I would definately go back to this hotel. WE also did a tour to Chichen Itza- have to recommend, it is quite an amazing site. We booked with Best Day tours and they were wonderful. I cant say emough about the cleanliness of the hotel- they were constantly cleaning and the floors were always sparkly. I also went to the spa for a massage and it was lovely. My husband went golfing and said that the course was rough, but it was fun anyways." - Inga, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
