"Nice View of Infinity Pool" - John & Christine from Brick, New York
Remarks:
"This was our first All Inclusive Resort vacation. We loved it...The room accommodations, food and guest experience was very nice. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. We enjoyed two days at the Spa. Despite a small problem with our luggage the first day, everything was fantastic. Monica corrected this the right way by making a wrong, right. We can't wait to return." - John & Christine from Brick, New York

"The staff at Secrets are truly amazing. My wife and I stayed 7 nights and not once did we feel "out of place." The staff always greeted us with a smile and were always more than helpful to fulfill our needs. They are the back-bone of this 5-star beautiful resort. Before our arrival, I read many reviews about the seating options on the beach and around the beautiful pools. I read a lot of complaints about not being able to find seating throughout the day. We did not have any problem finding any seating at any time of day. This was our first all-inclusive resort experience. We feel very blessed to stay at the best first. All other resorts look like a joke now. We will definitely return to Secrets Silversands." - Norman from Winterport, Maine

"I became violently ill on the 2nd night of my vacation. The resort physician gave me antibiotics for an E. Coli infection. 50 to 75% of the guests were ill with the same symptoms but the resort did not accept responsibility. I drank only bottled water, so I think the food preparation was to blame for the widespread illness. Not fun and I will not return to this resort or its affiliates." - Natalie from Flint, Michigan

Remarks:
"THE ROOM: I would like to start by saying that this resort was NOT as we expected. First of all, as soon as we were taken to our room we noticed an unpleasant odor inside and outside the room. At first, we did not think of it too much since we were so tired. I noticed it right away but the bell boy and my lovely wife did not notice anything. We decided to take a nap at the moment. When we woke up the bad smell was still there!!....part of it seemed to be coming from inside the shower. Upon closer inspection, there was a significant amount of mold which intensified after waking up and taking a shower. The odor however, also came from the outside as our room which faced the water recycling plant from the resort next door AZUL (it's literally on the other side of the wall and easily seen from our bedroom). Anyways, to make the story short, the smells were so intolerable that we asked to be moved to a different room away from building 5. If you want to stay there, please make sure you do not get building 5. We were moved to building 2. There were no appreciable odors. The bathroom was clean, and we were able to enjoy it from there on.

The GYM: I decided to go for a workout at the gym, It was big enough, a lot of people there.. but the gym's floor was very slippery and dangerous. I couldn't tell what exactly they used to clean the floors, but I almost fell. Another person almost fell as well. He told me it was Armor All on the floor or some oily substance to make it shine. Well, this was not a good thing since everyone did not like it at all. Yes, the cleaning lady was very efficient and tried very hard to keep the place clean. It was much cleaner than several places I had the pleasure to work out. Hint: As you enter the gym you will feel the floor slippery, those are not your shoes at all.

TIME SHARE PRESENTATION: Well, as we waiting for our room a very friendly gentleman approached us telling us if we wanted to go to Secrets Maroma - a very nice resort close to Secrets Silversand.. same company, same owner etc. It was an invitation to hear about a new "Unlimited Vacations" club. There was no commitment and we were offered $100 for attending to be used towards any resort service. We did not want to go at first; we asked if this was a time share type of presentation. This nice person assured us that it was NOT a time share presentation, it was just a raffle for a 3 night trip back to Cancun and 100 $ just to listen to the presentation. We agreed and decided to go, we asked how many people are planning to go and it was supposed to be confidential. We got a little bit suspicious at this point. We got into a Taxi that Secrets Silversands kindly paid in full for us to go to Maroma. Once we got there, we noticed everyone was very friendly to us and offering us water or something to drink. We went with and open mind, having a positive attitude. A resort representative, Enrique, with broken English told us that he was going to take us for a tour of the Resort and tell us about the program. It was not a time-share it was going to be an informative session about this new club inauguration day. We told him, this is not a time-share right? We are not interested in buying anything at this point. He got very defensive and said, "WHO TOLD YOU THIS IS A TIME-SHARE" then we knew something was not right. I told him that we did not like to attend any presentations about Time-shares since it was not something we could commit to at this time. He assured us that it was not a time share. Anyways, he went on and on and on about AM Resorts, about the owner, about the supposed savings and at the very end he said there were 3 packages for us to choose. These were Platinum at $89,000 USD, Gold at $ 49,000 USD and last but not least Silver $29,000 USD. Also, he insisted we would only get some added discounts if we made a deposit (15-20%) on the spot. Financing was available through the resort at 16% APR!!!. I told him immediately that we were not interested and he kept saying "BUT HYPOTETICALY SPEAKING WHICH ONE WILL YOU CHOOSE." We told him none. He became angry and told us we promised him to buy (as we were having breakfast, we very casually asked if we would consider becoming clients..we told him we would but that was certainly before we were given any pricing information!!!!). WE did not promise him a damn thing; we kept our cool and stuck to our guns. It seems to us that this got him more upset to the point that he was rude toward us. He began asking questions about our mortgage payments and personal finances. After, he realized he could no longer pressure he sent 2 supervisors to try to convince us. -very uncomfortable - He returned to our table after his supervisors failed as well and threw his note on the table right in front of us. He did not speak to us or regard us at all during the remainder of the presentation. Please be careful when agreeing to these "presentations." We felt the $100 bucks was not worth it at all. BE AWARE AND ENJOY YOUR NEXT VACATION.

STAFF: The staff members at the restaurants, cleaning crew, and spa were very good. They were always trying to be helpful and accommodating. We tipped every single one of them according to their services and they were very thankful to accept it. (You do not have to tip anyone if you do not want to, is not a requirement). The entertainment crew worked very hard to keep you smiling and to make our vacation fun and enjoyable. We were happy to be there and felt welcomed. Our hearts goes to those people who work very hard behind the scenes to make things happened for the owners of this resort. Those are the true heroes who make a better place for everyone who takes a vacation. All the credit should go to them. Thank you." - Anthony from Los Angeles, California

"The maid service was terrible, Our room had not been cleaned daily until 4:30-5:00 daily. We would have to wait outside when we came in from the pool until they were finished. Turn-down service was occassional, not consistent. Foods were ok but never the same taste if you ordered a second time in the week. The beach is rocky and you can't get in the water without shoes." - Eddie from Proctorville, Ohio

"This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort and it compltely blew us away. The hotel itself was modern and beautiful and although the resort has 433 rooms, we never felt like the resort was crowded. You could always find a fairly private spot in one of their pools or by the ocean. The staff and service was beyond our expections. We never lacked for anything. There was a great mixture of options to relax and be alone or join in many of their fun activities. We will absolutely be returning and will tell all of our friends and family as well. It was very hard to return home after this decadent vacation. " - Robin from Chico California

"So here's a little info on this resort which about 20 minutes south of Cancun Airport: Secrets Silversands Riviera modern design brings sophistication and distinction to the Riviera Maya. This all-suite resort presents "Unlimited-Luxury" in an inventive way by featuring suspended beds, chic modern fabrics, alluring dicor and captivating lighting. 8 Gourmet restaurants to choose from - Ratatouille (Mediterranean), Bordeaux (French), Himitsu (Pan Asian), Seaside Grill, Oceana (Seafood), El Patio (Mexican), Portofino (Italian) and World Cafi (Buffet). Also there are eight posh bars and the lavish Secrets Spa. These are just some of the indulgent amenities set amidst these beautiful surroundings. Yes, the rooms are GREAT! We unfortunately had a garden/very partial oceanview, but we still enjoyed it. These rooms are large and very comfortable. The standard rooms are Junior Suites! Many rooms have their own swim-out pools! How wonderful to wake up in the morning and step out of your room and go for a dip!

If you are considering a trip to Mexico, drop me a line and I would be happy to book this WONDERFUL resort for your next vacation memory!" - Lauren Liebert, Ticket to Travel , Mountain View, Calif.
