"It is not the fanciest of hotels but for the price it was great. The food is great at Don the Beachcomber. The lobster rissotto with jumbo shrip and scallops is the best. "I agree with the comments from Richard, Port Louis, Mauritius. The room is small and the price they charged is way overpriced. This is the worst resort service, especially from The Front Office Manager. She is arrogant, unfriendly and doesnt know how to answer a simple question. I have been traveling all over the world for over 40 years and this is the worst hotel service."

"I would avoid this hotel at all costs. Ancient rooms, stinking of mold, arrogant and uphelpful staff (especially GM) and pedigree cockroaches. As a family, we loved Kona, but hated the Hotel"

"The Royal Kona, is a very nice hotel. We had a comfortable stay, very relaxing, and the staff were all very nice and always smiled. If you needed help with anything, they were there for you. The room were very clean, with a great view of the ocean and Alli Dr., and close to the village that is within a few minutes walk from the hotel, with great shops and places to eat. The Lagoon was pretty neat too. If you decide to go into the lagoon, make sure you have something on your feet, youll be stepping onto rock before going all the way into the water. The Lagoon area is pretty neat as well as the surrounding area. Only problem, we had a non smoking room, and I do smoke, however if you do smoke, and you are in a non smoking room, you cannot smoke on the balcony, but you can smoke in one of the 3 areas that permit smoking. If you do get caught smoking in your room, beware, there is a $250.00 fine. I only smoked out by the pool, in an area that they have there. If I ever get the chance to visit the Big Island again, I will again stay at the Royal Kona Resort. Great time, Lots of fun, Relaxing.
