"The beds in this resort are in HORRIBLE!!! The bed in my room had a sway in the middle, no pillowtop but rather a box spring feel. I did not enjoy one good night sleep. The sad thing is that the lounge chairs on the pool deck were in much better shape. There were no other options but to stay in the assigned room because, the resort was over-sold. My family actually booked over 40 rooms for a wedding and the resort made a killing on us,besides killing my BACK!!!! There were several other mistakes in the booking... the bride and groom actually had to share their room the entire time or send one of ther bridal party home due to lack of space. We were also unhappy about EXTRA charges for the wedding that we were assured prior to arriving were INCLUDED. BE CAREFUL. Also there is a lack of public washrooms for a hotel with so many guests!!" - Robert from Seattle, Washington

" We feel that a shuttle service to and from Playa del Carman should have been included in the overall price of this all inclusive resort. Nobody on staff seemed to know anything about Catholics Mass times for us. They didn't seem to know what we were talking about when asked." - James from Fostoria, Ohio

"We had a wonderful time. But for some reason we had a problem with small ants that kept on getting in our suite. The only solution was to have the room sprayed every few days. It is a very nice area and the water was perfect. Unfortunately never got to see the Mayan Ruins as we had hoped to do." - Brian, Nicole, Taylor & Lauryn from White House, Tenn

"We are all seasoned travellers to many Caribbean counties, with Mexico being our favorite, especially the Mayan Riviera. Our stay at the Riu Yucatan was one of our best vactions. The location was excellect with downtown bars/nightlife, the food was the best ever with such a nice variety, rooms were awesome, beach, the best on the strip, and the staff was so friendly. We know where our next vacation will be - definitely at the RIU Yucatan, only thing we would change is that we would go to Senior Frogs at the start of our vacation and not at the end so we could experience it more than 1 nite." - Kerry, Sheila, Jodi & Rose from Halifax, Nova Scotia

Remarks:
"My husband and I have been coming to Cancun/Playa del Carmen/Cozmel for the last 6 yrs. We have stayed at many different hotels from the most elite (Aventura Palace) to some of the 3 star hotels. We both agree our favorite place was the Rui Yucatan Resort Hotel. We stayed here in spring of 2005. We meet the most fasinating people from all over the world. We still have email contact with our Switzerland/Englands friends. Every guest there had nothing but positive reviews of there stay. The staff was above and beyond. They greeted us every morning and too became our friends. The people of this area are warm, delightful, and treat you with the utmost respect. I found myself envying their life here. The hotel was spotless and the decor and landscape was exactly what you would imagine your dream escape place to be like. It was magical and the native wildlife was unbelievable, monkeys, iguanas, and those big brown furry pig looking things. The buffet was incredible. There was every kind of food you could think of and every nationality represented. I can still see the image in my mind. Entertainment was comparative to Las Vegas. The Mayan show, Micheal Jackson tribute, hollywood movie tribute etc. My husband and I will be planning a trip next Feb. We will bring our 3 kids and other families members who have never been to Mexico. We knew the Rui Yucatan would be the best place to take them." - Denise from Denver, Colorado

"My husband and I stayed here it was our first time in Mexico. I have to say I was very pleased over all. Will I go back? Maybe not only because I like the Caribbean, its very Humid here. The rooms are very clean they do have a smell, but is to be expected so just take a candle with ya. The food was really great. Drinks were very good. We went to relax and that we did. We booked a snorkeling excursion at the Marina Maroma and one night a sunset dinner cruise with funjet when we got there. I highly recommend both of these!!! Over all it was a very good vacation.....this is a kid friendly resort and there was alot of them there. But I can honestly say they did not bother us. We usually stay at an adult only resort, but this resort is very big and plenty of space. So I hope if you are going to this resort, I hope your stay is wonderful like ours was...oh by the way there are monkies at this resort......enjoy!" - Shelia from St. Louis, MO
