RIU Tequila Review

The RIU Tequila Hotel is an all-inclusive Playa del Carmen resort. The Riu Tequila has underwent a $15 million renovation in 2009 that included refurbished rooms now with flat screen TV's, new restaurants, pool area and lobby.

The Riu Tequila is a 5-Star hacienda style 664-room ocean resort. This property is a part of the magnificant RIU Hotel complex of six other deluxe hotels of various styles and sizes. The RIU Tequila offers comfortably furnished rooms and a wide variety of bars and restaurants for fine dining. Golf is a big attraction at the RIU hotels, with a beautiful 18-hole golf course across the street from the RIU Tequila. Thie RIU Tequila Hotel is a favorite among the Play del Carmen resorts, as activities and entertainment are non-stop day and night.

"We had a great time and will surely return soon for another stay! The only thing we didn't like was the check in time of 3PM. We arrived at 8:00AM, at the hotel by 9:00AM and waited until 3PM for a room! The front desk worked hard to find us a room. The entertainment staff was great, they made me feel like a millionaire. They take the time to get to know you and keep you involved with all the activities at the resort.THE FOOD. The food was great. I'm finding it hard to enjoy the restaurants locally now! The room was spotless and cleaning was done throughly, over an 1-1/2 hours every day. That meant you room wouldn't be done until PM some days. Different Towel Animals everyday, making us wonder what was next." - James from Windsor, Canada

"Our time at the Riu Tequila was fabulous! Our son's wedding was there and it was spectacular. We would go back in a heartbeat. Everything was great, the staff, the accomodations, the beach was breathtaking. Our children had the best time of their lives and so did we. The shows in the evening were alot of fun. The drinks were tasty. The Riu Tequila was a very down to earth spot and close to shopping..no need to go to far as everything was at our fingertips. I would recommend this resort highly. I really hope to go back soon and spend at least 10 days as 7 is not enough. I miss the birds singing in the morning and having my Mexican coffee on the balcony. "We only had a week and were a bit reluctant because of the 10 hour flight from London. On arrival all fears were dispelled as we had a superb vacation. The hotel was superb, staff were great and the food was excellent. The Riu Tequila was kept emaculate by staff and nothing seemed too much trouble. "Everything was a blast! Staff was very friendly, especially Nacho at the front desk. The food was delicious. We were not too fond of the Mediteranean( Seafood dinner). The steak night was a good choice. The shows were cute but the Disco was a little lame. Go downtown for night life. Okay, the beds and pillows were bricks and there were two beds not one.
