Here is our Inter-Continental Presidente Los Cabos Resort Review:

The InterContinental Presidente Hotel Cabo is in the quiet area of San Jose Del Cabo. The resort is located on the beach, but you cannot swim in the ocean here due to a very strong under-tow current. The Presidente Los Cabos is an all-inclusive resort which means all your food (buffet style and two dining rooms) and drinks are included in the price of the room. The Cabo resort was renovated in 2000 and has a nice low-key, relaxing feel to it. It is not a wildly active resort. Great place to unwind, read and catch some sunshine. The InterContinental Presidente Hotel Cabo has a great pool area with swim-up bar and lounging area.

Facilities:
395 Hotel Rooms, A/C, 2 dbl beds or 1 king bed, cable TV w/pay-for-view movies, phone w/voice mail/data port, 4 Pools, Swim-up bars, Childrens pool, Kid's club, Poolside bar/snack bars, 6 Restaurants, Lobby bar, 24-hr room service, Lighted tennis, Exercise room, Shops, Car and MoPed rental.

"THE RESORT WAS VERY NICE OVERALL, BUT THE FOOD BEGAN TO GET VERY BLAND AFTER AWHILE. THE BEACH WAS ABOUT A BLOCK TO GET TO THE WATER AND YOU HAD TO STEP AROUND MANY,MANY LARGE PILES OF HORSE-SHIT TO GET TO IT. THEN YOU CANNOT GET IN THE OCEAN DUE TO THE LARGE WAVES AND UNDERTOW." - Bob from Kansas City, Missouri

"Thinking about going to Cabo? You might want to reconsider. Cabo is EXTREMELY expensive. How expensive? A small bottle of sunscreen will set you back $15.00 and a 20 minute taxi ride into town will run you $35.00 each way. Every establishment attempts to take you for whatever you're worth by selling you something thats grossly over-priced or just out right scamming you. An example, we sat for drinks at bar 624 in the upscale marina shopping district and when we asked to see a drink menu they just said "what do you want, well make you anything". To keep things simple we ordered margaritas. They brought us rather large margaritas which had absolutely NO alcohol. Not a drop of tequila. We were furious when they wanted to charge us $12 per drink. To make matters worse, the bar tender told us they had a 2 for 1 deal going on, but it didnt apply to the large drinks they brought us (even though we didnt order the large size). We had 3 different staff members ring up the cost of a margarita and they each came up with 3 different prices...amazing! The manager knocked $5.00 off the bill which wasn't much of a consolation. Customer service in this area of Mexico is good when they think you have money but terrible once they get your money or realize they won't be getting your money. Still thinking about Cabo? Ok....

The El Presidente is a mixed bag. Upon arrival they gave us a complimentary room upgrade (this seems to be a standard courtesy) and then immediately tried to sell us a "better" room for an additional $150...we declined. The rooms here are clean but basic. They are not fancy in any regard and nothing about their decor manages to impress. Once we checked in they sent us over to the "information desk" which doubles as the activities desk. BEWARE...the information desk is actually run by "The Club" which promotes cruises and time shares. While friendly and helpful, they are only interested in getting you to attend one of their presentations. So while they can book activities like snorkeling, ATVs, horseback riding etc., they will tell you they can get you a better price or get you the activity for free if you have breakfast with them and attend their sales meeting. Consider yourself warned.   If youre hoping to play in the waves at El Presidente you can forget about it, there is a big beautiful beach but no swimming allowed. Theres a strong undertow that makes swimming here unsafe. The hotel does however have several well maintained pools which are not over chlorinated and they have swim up bars which is nice.   If youre someone who enjoys having lots of activities taking place on the premises, El Presidente is not the place to come. They do apparently offer a few organized activities but too few to mention and we never actually saw any of them take place.  El Presidente boasts about its 6 restaurants but they only open 1 main restaurant per evening. You MUST make a reservation early the same day if you want to eat dinner at the main restaurant, otherwise your only dinner option is the regular buffet. The nice thing about the El Presidente is that its all inclusive so you can eat and drink as much as you want at no additional cost to you, unless you order lobster, shrimp or steak at dinner. Now, with all that said, I will tell you we were VERY surprised by the quality of food. The food at El Presidente really is exceptional, even the main buffet is surprisingly good. We read very mixed food reviews so werent sure what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised. The food at their Napa restaurant was especially noteworthy. It won't go down as the best food you have ever had but its good solid tasty cooking.  Lastly, the El Presidente is located in San Jose Del Cabo NOT is downtown Cabo San Lucas. The two towns share the same coastline but sit 20 miles or so apart. So its necessary to take the hotel shuttle ($10 round trip) or a taxi ($35 EACH WAY) into Cabo San Lucas. We enjoyed being in San Jose Del Cabo because its a quiet, charming little town with a handful of shops and galleries and some great little cafes and restaurants, definitely worth exploring. You can walk into town from the El Presidente, it takes maybe 15-20 minutes but can be a chore in the humidity. The more adventurous might want to jump on a local bus. They are easy to identify as they are converted school buses and they are labeled "Urbano". They loop continuously through town and cost just 6 pesos (.60 cents) each ride.

HURRICANE WARNING:  We found ourselves stranded in Cabo for an extra day when the hurricane forced the airport to close. The El Presidente told us they would give us a GREAT rate for the additional night...JUST $180.00 - talk about taking advantage of a bad situation. We had no choice but to agree. Shortly thereafter, the power went out so we were in our hotel room with no TV and no AC. We figured wed go to the bar to hang out but the hotel was refusing to serve alcohol. Ok, a hurricane is a bad situation, but with no basic ammenities and no alcohol (which we paid for in the all inclusive price) we were left scratching our heads as to why we were being charged $180.00 - returning to our room we found water was now coming into our room and the toilets were backing up. We decided to ask for a rate reduction given the circumstances and upon explaining our case we were rudely told we should simply consider ourselves lucky to have a roof over our heads and we were free to leave. We were speechless. Clearly they knew no one could leave the hotel with 80 mile an hour winds kicking up. We were shocked and disappointed that the El Presidente, which promotes itself as a 4 star resort, would treat their guests with such disregard."
