"Just got back from the Oasis Cancun and it was truly the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. I felt dirty in the room. The room was filthy, it reeked of mildew and mold. The shower overflowed and the drain had to be removed. I had blood on my "clean" sheets and tar on my towel after maid had cleaned the room for the day. Room flooded when it rained. old pack of cigarettes behind the toilet, toilet barely flushed. Gum on bottom of clean plate at buffet. Food was horrible and inedible in every restaurant. Nightclub smelled like vomit. Only saving grace was the beautiful ocean a gift from god that had nothing to do with the vile hotel. The pool was pretty too. I would never return." - Laura from Miami, Florida

Lots of activites to do for every age and relaxaction time was perfect. I went with my wife and my daughter and her friend and they loved it. We are around 50 and they are 16 and we will go back! The rooms were well air-conditioned and kept tidy by the maids. It's an awesome time to say the least." - Harry from Toronto, Canada

Nothing but beds and TV cabinet. 2 very hard unomfortable chairs. Only bottled drinks were 2 bottles of water delivered to your room each day - even though we had 3 in our room. No coffee, microwave, refrigerator in rooms. You could rent a refrigerator at $26 per day. There were only 2 sit down restaurants with very few choices or 2 buffet restaurants that were in the same building and served the sames things. Plus bar food and a pizza place. Only 1 very small gift shop that had hardly anything except cold drinks in bottles and snacks. If you are a teenager or someone into drinking and drinking and partying to all hours...this is the place for you. I will never go back." - K.R. Besaw from Syracuse, New York

"We stayed at the oasis cancun 2 weeks ago, and I just LOVED the week I spent there!!!!! I'm 30 so I was in the older crowd cuz everyone was in there early 20s, but I still had alot of fun!! I had read a couple of bad reviews of this hotel, but didn't have any problems happen to me during that week... the ac was functioning perfectly, it was even too cold sometimes when we went in our room! The hotel was very clean, We had a couple of bad thunder showers so there were a couple of buckets in the hallway but nothing to cause any problems. Our room was always very clean (we did tip the cleaning lady everyday) and got 2 free bottles of tequila :) The food at the buffet (the Tatish) was EXCELLENT and the service was amazing, we almost always had the same waiter, and if you leave a little tip everyday, youll be serve like a king!!!! I gained 4 pounds that week I ate so much!! :D We tried the Italian restaurant and it was very good, the American one wasn't that much. The drinks were very good and NOT watered down!!! You have to try these 2 drinks I discovered: the Superman and the Bob Marley. They were sooooo good!!!! The pool is awesome, it's so big and I loved the 2 swim-up bars! The music was always very good near the pool. And the beach!!!! Wow! I loved all the beds on the beach, it was soooo relaxing!! We always had free chairs or palapas or bed on the beach, it was quiet because it was in october. There are hammocks on the site near the beach. All the staff were nice with us, we didn't have problems with no one. I guess it depends on your attitude, if you are nice with people, it will come back to you, but maybe we were just lucky too, since we didn't have problems with the ac like alot of people seemed to have, or anything else. We did a couple of excursions there: Chichen Itza, Tulum, Xel-Hal, X-Plor and my boyfriend went to Exotic Cars to drive his dream car there, its a big race track!!! All of our excursion were amazing!! I strongly suggest X-Plor, I had soooooo much fun there!!!!! And to visit the Mayan pyramides and Temples was VERY special too!! It was a dream vacation for us and would DEFINITELY go back!" - Jessica from Longueuil, Quebec, Canada

"Although Cancun is rated safe to travel there are still dangerous crimes and murders going on. We love Mexico and travel two times a year but plan to take a break until it's safer to travel due to our experience at the Oasis. Our first night at the Oasis our room was broken into, all our cash, passport, electronics and jewelry were stolen. The terrace door would not lock and even though we were on the third floor which we believed we would be safe and secure we were not. The resort did not help us at all and actually insinuated we made the whole security report up. Being in a foreign country with all your cash stolen and passport this is the worst feeling especially when the resort would not help us. I would not recommend this resort to anyone! And do your research before you stay in Cancun. We found horror stories of murders only three weeks before we stayed on the resort. Safe travels!" - Heather & Brian from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

"1st night on 1st floor next to disco. Horrible. 2nd night moved us to 4th floor above disco. So loud until about 4am. Then had a leak in roof. Reported, but maintenance walked in (no knock) while friend using baathroom. Asked them to come back tomorrow. Nope. Then next day came home from beach front entrance to our room inch of water. Totally slipped. Called down for help, 4 hours later staff who could give-a-crap comes up. I had blood everwhere. Doctor came wouldn't let us keep report. No carring, no apology, worst ever! I work in hospitality and I will take this as far as needed to get help with a possible broken elbow. Ruined last 2 days, worse yet the most horrible customer experience ever (been to Mexico over 12 times)." - Erin from Glenwood Springs, Colorado

"Just returned from a 4 day/3 night visit and if we knew about the UNAVAILABLE OPTIONS for the Non Black Wristband People (us), we would not have booked this resort! No Safe Deposit Box was included with the price, nor was the Mini Bar in the Room -- everything cost extra, even the bottled water. Not even a Complimentary Bottle -- REALLY! We were not asked if we would like to UPGRADE, even though the resort was not very populated while we were there -- Very Puzzling ? THE FOOD and The Restaurant Staff: The food was very good (at the restaurants we were allowed to go to -- remember, No Black Wristband means FEWER CHOICES) and the Staff was very friendly and On Top Of Their Game! However, Breakfast was only available at ONE RESTAURANT, thanks to the NON-BLACK Wrist Band! Two Pool Bars were available until 5:00 pm and only One "Beach Bar" (not on the beach) was available (for Lunch -- Burgers, Hot Dogs, and Fries). GET YOUR OWN DRINKS: We were never approached by anybody to offer us a drink or a refill -- except for one time at the tiny Sports Bar. And YES, WE TIPPED REGULARLY.

CONCLUSION: I guess our timing was bad -- we undoubtedly went after the Spring Break Crowd "wore out the resort". We would never not return to this Oasis Resort even though we stayed at one of the Other OASIS Resorts (twice). Shop around and choose a resort that does not offer 2 Plans and make sure it offers a Safe Deposit Box in the price and that little extra amenity in the room --- Open Mini Bar (even if you only want the water). Our Last 4 Visits to Cancun over the past 2 years, were ALL SUPERIOR to this visit and ALL included Safe Deposit Boxes AND Open Mini Bars in the room. But this OASIS did win "The Food Battle". Oh Yeah, they did give us a Map of the Resort when we arrived, but it was not very "detailed" and it did not inform you that certain areas were "off limits" for NON Black Wrist Band Tourists (US). This is my first unfavorable review over the past 10 years which included 9 trips to the Caribbean -- 5 to Cancun, 2 to Jamaica, 1 to Puerto Rico, and 1 to the Dominican Republic. Hope this helps in your decision making." - John from New Castle, Delaware

"Sunset in Cancun"
- Kevin from Long Island, New York

Remarks:
"Been to Cancun about a dozen times. This hotel was the absolute worst! The All-Inclusive is a JOKE! The service was horrible. The Bars are ridiculous. They close bars at random times, the pool Bartender wouldn't serve me because I was not in the pool? I was standing right next to the bar, he said "this is a pool bar, I need to help pool customers first." Funny thing though, there was no one waiting for a drink. The Outside Bar had a line like Great Adventure. One guy making drinks. I guess no waitress service. Not once did anyone come up to me and ask me if I wanted a drink. The food at the outside Bar: Well done Hamburgers and Fries. This too was like waiting for an amusement park ride. One guy just way over cooking everything. My kids did not like Burnt Hard Burgers. I asked the guy twice to take my burger off the grill earlier, but no can do He was cooking 20-30 at a time. The Oasis, and Grand Oasis are on the same grounds, but if you pay for the Grand Oasis, you get a Black Bracelet, if you stay at the plain old Oasis, well then you're a second class citizen, which we found out on the first day. Special Beach, Bars, Restaurants, and ammeneties for BLACK Bracelet wearers only. The rooms are so run down, and smell like mildew. They should take a bulldozer to this place and start over." - Kevin from Long Island, New York

"Since the moment I booked my vacacation I knew it as a 3 star hotel. I am not surprise for the quality of services. The only 2 things that I like was the International Buffet and the pool area were very good. Unfortunately, I was victim of a robbery of my two cameras a photo and a video camara right in front of the personnel of the lobby, which is very disappointing. The kind of people working there or visiting that at the first oportunity the case was left on the table somebody took it and just grab the 2 camaras leaving the case behind with everything else, is disturbing that you don't feel secure. I definitily don't recommend this hotel to anybody because its not fair that at the end of your vacation somebody without respect takes your belongings with your memories. There were no security cameras also."

"Day one- Wrong amount of beds in room. There were suppose to be a king size bed and a twin. There was only a king, there was no bottle of water in the room, also there was no privacy sign on the door which in the morning and the next day which is when we finally asked for one just cause the cleaning people to knock on our door all the frea*ing time asking us when the wanting us to clean. At night our roof started to leak directly on the bed heavily when we called maintance it took them and hour and a half to send someone up who walked in looked at the leak and then walked out and did not return after thirty minutes of him being gone we called back down to the main desk and they had no idea what was going on the next day we were switched to a different room.
Day four and five: Six most of the food places were closed and one was having a private party at the Italian place. The sushi place was closed. The only place open day six and seven was the Thai place and the buffet causing HUGE lines at the buffet which on the seventh day one of the girls I was with had pork that was still pink in the middle the entire time they refused to serve us shots unless we tipped when we would go up and ask for drinks at the "Up and Down" (a club in the resort) they refused to serve me unless I tipped ( when we were finished eating or at the bars we all ways tipped but to be refused service unless we tipped. We paid for an all-inclusive and did not get it. On top of that they were out of the Bob Marley mix and ingredients for a lot of the mixed drinks the margaritas tasted horrible. Day 7 - The air conditioning was out all day so it was hot and humid all day and the entire night This was my group's third time this year staying at this resort and we have never had these problems. We have never caused any problems. When we talked to one of the workers about a hole in the ground by the pool which they never fixed which was an accident waiting to happen the worker told us something about how they had recently fired 15 people and were possibly understaffed he didn't say they were understaffed but you could tell that the workers were stressed which doesn't cover their mess ups with everything, the management should of replaced these workers. I'm sure it's not hard to find people who want work in Mexico." - Michelle from Belleville, Illinois

"Anyone who rates this resort poorly is just looking to find fault. My husband and I were very pleased with everything. The only thing I wanted were straw umbrellas on the beach, but there were always plenty of chairs on beach or around the pool. The best restaurant was the Italian one, they served much more than Italian; they are closed on Tuesdays. Food/Service excellent; at the Italian, Salmon at dinner wonderful and the Cappucino Mousee is wonderful. Our room was nice; cleaned daily, valuables safe (not even in the safe), found nothing wrong. We paid $23 more a night to have an ocean view (but there was another blocking part of the view; however, it was still nice). We visited one of the other resorts with a free day pass at the Palm Beach Oasis a few miles north; this one was very nice as well; they had straw umbrellas, waitress service for drinks. I'd like to address all the negative reviews, but I cant remember all of them. We will stay here again next year and visit the 3rd of this chain (for a day) the Viva Oasis. Go, have a good time. DO NOT talk to the lobby staff that want to sell you a time share, do whatever you have to...don't accept any offer, it's not worth it - we realized this before they wasted one of our precious days of vacation. Have fun !!!" - Anita from Madison, Wisconsin

"We booked Oasis Cancun for November 26 through December 10, 2009. This hotel has so many problems we had to move out. We were willing to upgrade just to get out of the hotel. Problems at Oasis Cancun include: Their treatment plant gives off a foul stench, which is only noticeable in the immediate vicinity of the entire complex. My wife has asthma and was on her rescue medication the 4 nights we were there. As soon as we transfered out, she had no need to use her rescue medications. The food and wait staff were terrible on several nights. (they were excellent on our first day) The last straw was when the bath water turned brown. In our opinion, the manager clearly has no clue on how to manage the Oasis Cancun resort. The hotel was booked with 1-800+ rooms which may have caused the problems. If you need more details, let us know." - Frank from Norfolk, Virginia

"I'll start out with the best stuff first; First of all my entire package was 5 nights all inclusive and airfare for less than $500.00 so I have no reason to complain. The good points were: Great food for an allinclusive. Great pools and decent drinks. Also the maid service was good and friendly! The things that could be improved were these: The AC only got down to about 75.. so it was a little warm in my opinion in the room at night! The shower water smelled like toilet water. The rooms are a bit small and bring a watch because they have no clock radios in your room! annoying! Alot of the staff has that "I own the resort" attitude. Although they get paid less than $4 an hour in most cases. I guess it's good to be confident, but not dicks! The beach gets worse every year. There is no way to safely even enter the water anywhere near this resort. Regardless of any other review it is impossible to swim at this beach with out risking injury. And it never will be unless there is a major amount of sand pumped in and redone! They do charge $3.50 a day for a safe lock. which I would get! Internet is 17.00 for 24 hours of Internet I recommend this! Or $6 for 30 min. Tipping is highly encouraged because it speeds up service! IF you are not used to Mexico service you will soon enough! They are very slow paced and in no hurry to serve you quickly...So either get used to it or be prepared to tip! " - Jeff from Dallas, Texas

"I was very disappointed and embarassed as a result of numerous negative experiences from the beginning to the end of our stay. Upon arrival, there was no greeting, just basic check-in. No manual in our room on how to use the phone or directory of local phone no. Our room's electrical was not working appropriately which meant the lighting was not consistent, tv would flicker on and off from time to time, the air conditioning did not work; there was a nasty odor in our room right from the get go; the flooring had a fine layer of crusted dirt and sand; the mirrors in the bathroom and front closet were dirty and smudged; the bedding was soiled- pillow case and fitted sheet stained; the tub in the bathroom was chipping- ended up with a minor cut to the foot; room service would come in and not always provide with clean towels or two rolls of toilet paper- a back up is nice when the pepto isnt kicking in; had little wormies that came up into the sink in the morning while trying to wash my face with the running tap water; the food was as nasty as it gets- they laid out the raw meat beside the cooked meat and other prepared foods; the dinning area was not air conditioned so the food-dairy, etc. was sweaty- that did not turn my stomach as much as the number of flies I had to fight to stay off my plate; the resort needs more staff in the dining area- during the 2 week stay we were only offered coffee with our breakfast a total of 2 times. The resort staff related to us visitors with little respect, with the exception of 4 employees; I needed a small load of laundry done- $80 USD later! Detailed cleaning was obviously an issue in this resort as one of the canvas paintings in our room was coated with a white creamy substance which appeared to be a form of human excretion. The one night I had come in later from the bar, 3am, and ran into a father in tears in the elevator. He informed me that it was his first night and that his wife and childrens belongings were soaking wet as the ceiling caved in from a water leak. He indicated that the resort staff were not so sympathetic. Spent a lot of money eating off resort. The resort was packed full with young people, so if you are not open to a loud decible level every morning at 4am or young kids chanting "Pablo" repeatedly outside your room- dont visit this resort. The beach is not cleaned regularly either. I weighed myself and I lost 12lbs in the 2 weeks at this resort." - Sarah from Barrie, Ontario, Canada

"We stayed at Oasis Cancun from Apr 11 - 18, 2008. I don't know why some people are giving the hotel a bad rap. We love the Resort. Pool is awesome, beach is great. Staff are very helpful. My boys (10yrs and 7yrs) had so much fun in our vacation. The hotel is old, but they keep it in shape and clean. The restaurants are fantastic and the drinks are everywhere. Our room got cleaned everysingle day. AC worked fine. They had shows on most nights. And the Graffiti Boys were great. Security is everywhere so we felt really safe. Come on, for the price we paid -- I'd definitely say our stay at the Oasis was worth it. We didn't have to wait in our buffet trips. The ala-carte restaurants, we did wait at an average of 15 min, which isn't bad. My tip: don't go there on spring break (we didn't), coz I can imagine the resort getting real busy, and waiting in line to eat might be a challenge. And the tipping of the staff, when we got there, their rep specifically told us we don't have to tip them. And honestly we didn't, but we still got very good service all around. But on our last day, since we still have some Mexican pesos, we just gave them to the staff we normally see. So there you go, enjoy!" - James from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
