Years ago, Mazatlan was one of the most popular Mexican resort destinations. But Fonatur, the Mexican government agency in charge of tourism, concentrated their efforts on developing Cancun, Cabo and Puerto Vallarta forgetting about Mazatlan. Now, the love is back! They are now rebuilding and refurbishing this great Mexico beach destination. There's a new four-lane, palm-lined boulevard on the entrance to the hotel zone and new hotels are being developed and older resorts are being refurbished. Yet, Mazatlan has retained its very Mexican culture, style and atmosphere. Mazatlan has a very large and picturesque ocean-front Malecon that is home to many shops, restaurants and night clubs. Perfect for ocean-front strolling.

On a recent trip to Mazatlan is seemed that the plan is to make it a family resort. Most of the resorts offer family suites with kitchens and separate bedroom areas.
