Here's our Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya Review
The Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya is located 15 minutes south of downtown Puerto Vallarta on fabulous Mismaloya Bay. This secluded and delightful all-suite hotel combines all the luxuries of an upscale beach resort with the beauty and adventure of Mismaloya's natural surroundings. The hotel fronts a small beach area open limited hours, but the neighboring beach is swimable and available at the pleasure of hotel guests. The La Jolla de Mismaloya recently completed a beach-restoration project that added 50 feet of beachfront to the property. The beach restoration program is part of a multimillion-dollar property upgrade that will be taking part in phases and will include all resort facilities and services.
Barcelo Hotel Corporation invested $7 million to renovate the all-suite, 317-room Barcelo La Jolla de Mismaloya in Puerto Vallarta. The renovation were completed in December. A major component of the renovation was the creation of a European-style spa with indoor-outdoor facilities. The resort's 109 Family Suites have been redesigned into two-room mini-suites with separate sleeping and living areas, with sleeper couches in the living area to accommodate additional guests. La Jolla de Mismaloya Resort is a very popular Puerto Vallarta Resort.

"Water sports are very minimal on the property itself--have to travel to go para-sailing etc. Beach was eroded---not many lounge chairs on beach. The service was non-existance--I had to go to the bar to get my "umbrella drink"--no wait staff at pool. Food quality was scarry--my husband got "food poisoning" along with other guests. On initial night there were no towels in room--took 3 calls to get the adequate amount of towels for my party. Room size was great--had some peeling of the drywall/stucco in room. Had long dark hairs on floor of bathroom--I am blond. Mini-bar consisted of 2 cans Mexican beer, 3 small bottles of sodas, bottle water. No other alcohol. Advertised about room turn down--nope didn't happen. Minimal TV--no pay on demand movies, time share sales people there. The pros--the grounds around pool nice, pool water clear, beds/pillows very comfortable. We, along with other guests left the resort because of the above negatives. We changed resorts. Will not ever go back to La Jolla De Mismaloya." - Kim from Midland, Texas

"My wife and I just got back from what has to be one of the best vacation destinations we've ever had the pleasure of traveling to. To top it off the hotel was amazing. Service was impecable! Everywhere you look some super attentive staff was at the ready to supply us with food, drink or info. The ratio of staff/guests was truely amazing! And the Food was marvelous! The only all inclusive we've been on was a cruise and compared to this the choice and quality was equal to or better. Seafood was extremely fresh and there were many mouth-watering Spanish dishes to try. The entire resort was recently completely renovated and includes opulent king size beds, a beautiful balcony facing the main courtyard and ocean, and sitting room, which had a trundle bed and additional wall mounted Plazma TV. Rooms are Modern with a strong contemporary Spanish influence. We paid half of what it cost us to go to St Thomas and had a better time doing so. So, if you want a really great vacation at a moderate price, with exceptionaly food, service and activities, don't hesitate and make a reservation." - Michael from Ocean City, New Jersey

"A great vacation. I love the all inclusive package. It is what you make it. Not everything went perfectly. Not everyone was nice and helpful. But for the most part. They do a fabulous job in making people feel welcome and try really hard to serve you to the best of their ability. Very relaxing and beautiful." - Bobbie from Carson City, Nevada

"We had a fantastic time at Barcelo La Jolla de Mismoloya. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Jorge set up our canopy tour to La Vista and that was a lot of fun. The Michael Jackson impersonator was great too. We enjoyed the food and the accomodations and would definitely return!." - Nancy, from Curtice, Ohio
