"I feel bad for the other reviewer who had as bad of an experience here as I did. The customer service from the manager was horrible. She had no sympathy or compensation for me and my girlfriend when we missed our connecting flight to Kauai due to airline delays. She refused to refund my money or compensate me in any way. She was contacted numerous times by myself and representatives from the online hotel booking company I used, and she was rude and/or not present each time. I was still charged for a room I didn't stay in even though I called that night and spoke to an employee who assured me that I would be compensated. Not only was the customer service terrible, but when we went to swim in the pool with our friends who stayed here, it was hard not to notice the mold/mildew growing under the loose stone around the pool. My friend who happens to be a pool designer, was appalled at the construction and overall quality of the pool. It definitely was built in the 60s or something close to it. Rooms are small and smelly. Pay a little more money and stay somewhere that cares about their customers."- Sean from Los Angeles, Calif

"If you have a few extra bucks to spare, I'd recommend staying somewhere else, probably on the other side of the island. My mom took me and my brothers to kuai in may to celebrate my 21st birthday and my brothers high school graduation. She did a lot of research but unfortunately we were blind to the fact that that specific side of the island rains 80 percent of the time. That wasn't even a problem compared to the hotel issue. We stayed at the Kauai Sands hotel. My main complaint were the bugs. Termites to be exact, on one of our first nights there we went out to dinner, shopping etc. when we returned BOTH of our rooms were infested with termites. I do not exaggerate when i say infested. We took our complaint to the front office and they simply said "turn off the lights, they're attracted to the light". We went back to our room only to find more termites, so my mom went back and demanded a new room. They gave us a new room, but that was infested too. 3 rooms later we were bug free, but they still charged us 100 bucks each for switching rooms"- Zoe from Costa Mesa, Calif
