Here is our Hyatt Regency Maui Review:
The Hyatt Regency Maui has been the Queen of Kaanapali for years. While there is indeed new competition, the Hyatt Maui remains THE place to stay in Kaanapali Beach. The Hyatt Regency Maui Hotel and Spa is located on 40 acres and is one of the finest luxury hotels on the island. The Hyatt Maui has 806 guest rooms (including 31 suites), 18 stories, 12,000 sq ft Spa Moana, a half acre pool with water slide, and sandy beach approach to the kid's pool. The manicured gardens are beautiful and the beach is very nice.
Facilities:
806 nicely appointed rooms, very large free-form pool with waterfalls and a 150 ft water slide, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis, Pool area snack, cocktail & towel service. Hyatt Maui has 5 restaurants, lobby bar, night club and cocktail lounge. Spa Moana for a complete array of treatments and a full fitness center.

"Good resort, however, it really needs renovation. This hotel really is showing its age. The bathrooms are very small and need extensive remodeling. The staff is not very friendly unless they receive a large tip. Next time in Maui - I will try the Grand Wailea."

Remarks:
"What a FANTASTIC hotel. We spent 3 days just hanging around the hotel grounds. The amenities and options for entertainment were unbelievable. We swam in the pools; loved the live animals; shopped at Starbucks, Macys, Sandal Tree, and other mall-like shops; we took scuba lessons then swam with the turtles in the ocean; worked out in the gym 5 of the 7 days; got a massage; used the on-site business office for internet access; ate dinner in each restaurant; and LOVED the sunsets on the beach. What a paradise. Thank you for the wonderful treatment with no glitches. In a word...awesome." - Tom & Christine, from Columbus, Ohio.

Remarks:
"Once you drive onto the resort grounds.. the Aloha spirit embraces you and your stress level dissapates and morphs into an unbelevably tranquil state. (This IS before your first Mai Tai!) The staff is charming, efficient, and professional. We made fast friends with Russell, who warmly greeted us and amicably chatted as he escorted us to our ocean front room. Every time we passed him by.. he managed to say Hello to us BY name! He deserves the title of Employee of the Year! Our package included a most sumptuous buffet at the Son-Z Swan Court - we must praise Ms. Liz - a naturally beautiful & vivacious Wahine who tended to our every whim and started our day with a full belly and a positive attitude! The housekeeping staff is also to be commended..so accomodating and cheerful. Last, but certainly not least is Seth, the hotel manager. He is a true asset to the Hyatt team and is the reason we will be returning for another week next February 2007. " Sincerely - Gary and Sonia, from Newport Beach, Calif.

Remarks:
"My experience was very hostile. Greeting was ok, but the long ck-in line and slow service was surprising. The resort looks good, but it is not as it may seem. The staff is limited, so things moves slower than expected. There was no food or drink service for the beach. We waited for our drinks at the bar. On first impression, it seems very nice.We had a reservation of a guaranteed room rate. The hotel did not honor this rate and called our room to tell us that we would be charged a higher rate than expected, if we stayed. There was no attempt to nicely accomodate us, at possibly a AAA, AARP or other welcoming rate. I spoke with the front office and they said, they could not honor the reserved rate. Again there was no attempt to accomodate me. Hyatt hotels leaves a very bad impression on me & my faimly." - Carolyn , from Homewood, ILL.

" Great hotel and a huge pool area which is fabulous. Despite the amount of guests, there is plenty of pool for everyone. Kids love the water slide and so do husbands! Great friendly staff and lots of shopping on site. I would come back over and over again!"
