"I found that if you rent a private condo and not one in the pool from time-shares you get a much better condo. Ours was clean, well stocked, had a washer and dryer, really nice furnishings and flat screen TV in the living room and bedrooms, but best of all was the view. Wow, the location of this resort is pretty awesome. It's above Hanalei Bay and the views of the mountains and white water below makes you not want to leave. But we did every day. It is close to beautiful beaches, good hiking like the Kalalua Trail and I loved Hanalei. The downside is the restaurant had a fire and they haven't started to rebuild it, but we walked to the poolside bar at the St. Regis next door and mostly ate in Hanalei. I liked the pizza at Tahiti Nui and Kalypso made really good Mai Tais. We had one nice dinner at a place in a town about 25 mins away called Hukilau that was really good. If you are looking for a good place to stay on the North Shore I would check out privately owned condos here. We rented #4222 and #4221 through Summit Pacific. It's a website. Our condo was perfect for the 4 of us but it says it can hold 6 people."- Joy from Santa Fe, New Mexico

"Room is slightly rundown, wallpaper is peeling and stained in bathrooms and is yucky, carpeting is stained and torn. There is no restaurant or bar anymore. Beach is down a very steep road. This is a timeshare exchange and I have been in worse. Kauai is awesome and love the town of Hanalei."- Gordon from Seal Beach, Calif.
