"This resort is terrible. Service is questionable, advertised restaurants either were closed totally or posted hours were reduced and advertised pool activities didn't exist. Wosre was the fact that they "falsified" alchol. Jim Beam bottles did not contain Beam, Bacardi was not Bacardi and even draft Corona was not Corona. When questioned, management lied and disputed facts - even when shown straight drinks from Beam bottles from 3 different locations in the resort were different color and different tastes - and none were Beam. The management seems corrupt, non-caring and obviously does not care about customer satisfaction. I travel over 50+ days per year and this is the worst place I have stayed in years. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!" - Jeff from Heath, Ohio

"We were there from Oct. 20 - 26, 2008. On 10-21-08 our room #515 flooded with an inch and a half of water. Went to the front deck to tell them and they said it would be taken care of. Our two pieces of luggage got soaked. When I asked them to come to the room to see the damage no one would come. We had to move our own belongings with pillow cases or out in the open on one of their bellcarts, through the lobby with a lot of guests there. It was very embarising to my wife an myself. We paid for a room with a balcony and a king size bed. Didn't get that. I also asked to have a claim form filled out about our luggage, they played stupid, no form. I took pictures of all what I could. Now that we are home our travel agent has also given us the run around about our luggage damage. They don't want to see the damage either. We spent approx. 12 hours of our vacation trying to fix this wrong, drying our luggage with a hair dryer and trying to get the room we had paid for which we did not get. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone." - Bob from Boyertown, Pennsylvania

"My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Oasis Playa June 30-July 3. This was our second time visiting Mexico but our first visit to Cancun. We decided to stay at the Grand Oasis due to its close proximity to the airport, the idea that it was an adult only resort and the reasonable price of the trip. Our first impression of the hotel was good. Its outside appearance was clean. The hotel receptionist appeared friendly and helpful. We were greeted and checked into our room immediately upon arrival. The room was clean, however we were told we were getting a lagoon view room, but instead looked right into the backside of the resort next door (We didn't complain since we weren't planning on spending too much time in there anyway). The pool was great. The buffet was ok. Would get old after a while. The Brazilian restaurant was impressive. The room service was decent. The room was usually cleaned by 3:00PM and we never had a problem getting clean towels. Like I said, our first impression was good. On our last afternoon, our impression of the hotel and staff immediately changed. At 3:00 maid service came to our room to clean. I was at the pool but by boyfirend was in the room. He let them in and came to join me at the pool. At 5:00PM we returned to our room to prepare for dinner. It was at that time we discovered that $120 in cash and his $700 watch was missing from the cargo pockets of his shorts, which was at the bottom of our luggage (both items were there prior to him leaving the room). We contacted the front desk immediately. They really didnt seem to care. They sent two security guards to our room (who went through all of our things) and told us they would get back to us the next morning with a report of who was in our room during those times. We informed them that we would be leaving by 1:00PM. The next morning we went down to see if there was any information. They didnt have any. We asked about the report and they said it would be ready after 1:00 (We once again said we were leaving at 1:00). They said come back in 2 hours. We went back. They told us they couldnt give us any information and that the report was for their records. Instead they gave us a copy of the incident report we filled out. Ar that time they said that nothing could be done because we werent using their lockbox (which was never offered to us and we later found out that they had charged different prices to two different couples). I know that nothing can be done to replace the money or watch but my point in writing this review is to ensure that it doesn't happen to anyone else. That specific incident ruined our entire trip. The fact that the hotel manager and staff didn't apologize or show concern was frustrating. We felt like we got the run around and we spent our last night and early morning feeling upset and violated. I don't believe this was the first incident of this nature. I understand that the lockbox is in the room for a reason but there also has to be some line of trust between the guests and the hotel staff. If there is a concern of this happening, the lockbox should be included in an all-inclusive vacation." - Cara from Newark, Ohio

"Upon arriving to our room we discovered the refrigerator was leaking. It took the staff 2hrs to replace it, my husband waited. Hours later when we returned to our room to take showers, we discovered that the bath tub was plugged up and so was the toilet. We waited for hours for someone to come and after making several calls to the front desk. My husband was even told by one of the girls at the front desk, "What do you want me to do?" The night manager did not even want to take our calls. Finally at 12:42 am they decided to move us. The handy man told the manager that the room was too dangerous. The night manager was very un-professional and so were several members at the reception desk.We had been told that the hotel was completely booked and could not move us earlier. They did upgrade us to an Ocean view room, but we will never stay there again due to their lack of customer service." - Elizabeth from Concord, Calif

"I had recently traveled to Cancun Mexico for the first time with my husband, sister-in-law and her hubby. I must say the hotel Grand Oasis Playa looked amazing as advertised on the internet, but that was it. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a really delicious drink and were then greeted by one of the reps of the hotel, she welcomed us and immediately started to set us up with a schedule of what our vacation would consist of. She insisted we schedule for a welcoming breakfast at another sister hotel, mind you we were only staying for 4 days and 3 nights. We were on vacation and the last thing were were worried about was following an itinerary. The hotel seemed really old it was very humid and clammy, the air conditioner made feel even worse. My sister-in-law's husband had to even fix the toilet on his vacation. This is the 5 apple rating they gave this hotel? This hotel is the worst I've been to. The grounds and pool are lush and beautiful, but that's where it ends. POOR SERVICE!!! I SAY!!! It smells of mold. Its absolutely a great time if you love paying for everything even if they call it All-Inclusive. The scenery was beautiful and the grounds were kept immaculate, but it seemed like they took better care of their ash trays with the neat little symbol of there hotel in it better than they took care of there guests! We had to eat out every night after the first. In all, we had a great time in Cancun but it wasn't because of the service and accommodations of the Grand Oasis Playa. I can't forget, we did encounter two friendly gentlemen Victor and Josui they were great." - May, Ariel, Maddy & Paul from New York City, New York

"We had a very uncomfortable experience. The water in the room was dirty/yellow and rusty. The room was humid and damp. The internet pictures make this hotel seem as though you would be going on an Asian experience. Far from that. The lobby was dark and gloomy. The night desk was totally ridiculous. We tried to phone the front desk for a morning wake-up call and I guess they went to bed when the guest did. The second night my husband had to literally go do there to get them to respond to his no-answered phone request. We had to actually tip the maid for extra towels. They would only give you towels for the moment. Not expecting you to shower or wash your face on the next morning. We were so disappointed on the second night that we went to the front desk requesting to be transferred to one of the sister hotels. Good there were no vacancies, speaking with other guest at the pool, their accommodations were worst. The liquor was the worst that you could drink. We actually went to town to buy our own. The AlaCarte restaurants were slow and had to make reservations days in advance for sorry service. The buffet was the best of their food service. If you have ever stayed at a 5-star hotel dont go here. We had to use the bottle water that they did supply to wash your face and brush your teeth. I did a survey in the hotel and they phoned me to see if there was anything that they could do to have me return and my reply was NO! We even hung our swimwear out to dry and they never dried. I would never do this again. Oh, the worst of all we had to attend timeshare promotion that was to last 90 minutes, well it was 4 hours...........we were booked through LUXURY Vacations. Other guests said that they left them at the presentation with no ride back to the hotel. I'm not sure who they book with. It was a horrible experience." - Jackie & Jay from Houston, Texas

"We flew into Cancun on Wednesday, May 21 with reservations for two couples at the Oasis Palm Family Resort. This trip was to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary and our First Honeymoon. Once we arrived, the person at the concierge desk informed us that we had to check-in with the person around the corner from the desk. We dragged our luggage to the other area and then were instructed to follow her to the desk where we first began. They looked at our reservations and informed us that our two ocean-view rooms that were confirmed back in March, that there was only one room that was available with the ocean-view. Then they looked again and said that they could put us up but encouraged us to stay at their other hotel that had a "5-STAR" rating. They finally encouraged us and we went to this "5-STAR" hotel, the Oasis Grand Playa. Then looking at it, we think that they overbooked their rooms and there was another family waiting to see if a room would come up for their extended family to join them. Once we arrived, we were greeted and presented drinks, all except two of us because some other people took them and were never accommodated with two more. Whatever! After that, you were pretty much on your own. No more hospitality or service. Every evening we were not be able to get into our room and then have to go downstairs to have them correct the problem. This was EVERY NIGHT! One afternoon, we returned from one of our excursions and turned down the bed and noticed that our sheets weren't changed and then noticed that they didn't clean the coffee pot or leave new coffee. The service was aweful even after trying to keep our cool and talk with the manager. Our talks were falling on deaf ears, they didn't care. Even after telling him how much we have heard about the hospitality and the service and that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. They just didn't care! The food was okay if you like Home Town Buffet. The drinks were okay at one of the bars. Entertainment? Everything pretty much shut down after 9 p.m. Their disco was a joke. We weren't the only couples that experienced terrible service. One other couple was also shuffled off from the Oasis Family Resort. Another couple experienced the same thing with the room key and their air conditioner. This resort just didn't care. We would not recommend this hotel or any of their sister hotels to anyone, unless you are retired and don't want to do a thing. But then again, we heard that this hotel is hopping when school is out. I say "You go kids, tear it up!" We did make the best of our trip and renewed our vows at the Cancun Palace." - Manny & Markly from San Jose, California

"My husband and I went to Cancun for the first time this March and we stayed at the Grand Oasis Cancun. It is a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and very clean amentities. We felt very safe at the hotel as there are security guards everywhere. There is a lot of restaurant options and they are all very good. If you want a spot on beach, you have to go down very early in the morning. You will be approached by the staff to listen to an 1 1/2 hr presentation on buying a "time share". My husband made a deal that we would listen if we were given 2 bull fighting tickets and a bottle of tequilla. They agreed, and they were not pushy at all when we said that we were not interested. The Oasis Cancun hotel- which is located in the same complex was full of spring breakers and they were very loud, but in our hotel they were not allowed in- even into the bar- so it was very quiet. There were 2 bartenders in the bar and they were wonderful and remember you. I would definately go back to this hotel. WE also did a tour to Chichen Itza- have to recommend, it is quite an amazing site. We booked with Best Day tours and they were wonderful. I cant say emough about the cleanliness of the hotel- they were constantly cleaning and the floors were always sparkly. I also went to the spa for a massage and it was lovely. My husband went golfing and said that the course was rough, but it was fun anyways." - Inga, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
