Formerly known as the Costa Real Grand Hotel, the Barcelo Costa Cancun Hotel is a 4 Star Hotel all-inclusive resort featuring 318 beautifully appointed rooms. Recently taken over by the very popular Barcelo Hotel chain, this Mediterranean style Cancun Hotel is located on the Lagoon side of the Cancun Atol. Close to shopping, restaurants and the nightlife that Cancun is famous for. The Costa Real Canun Hotel has a large pool surrounded by pleasantly landscaped gardens.

"This was the best vacation of my life. The staff were amazing, everything was clean and nice. The people were kind and all together amazingly beautiful people, nice, friendly and outgoing. I will always remember this vacation not just for the fun in the sun, but for the people. I have never been so happy in my life as I was there and I wish I could go back right now just to see them all!!

"A 5* Palace, our holiday was fantastic,nothing was overlooked to make sure that all guests were attended to.All staff were polite and always made sure that no-one was in need of anything no matter how small.We will be returning to Mexico,Cancun for our 40th anniversary as those lovely people at the Barcelo Costa Real made our 30th Wedding Anniversary feel so special.A very big THANK YOU to all entertainment staff for producing such high quality shows,see you all soon."

" Our stay at the Costa Gran Real Hotel was absolutely fantastic and by far the best holiday we have had. The staff were all friendly and could not do enough for us and always with a smile. Activities around the pool were great fun and so well organised - a special thanks to Omar (a star, a lovely person and an inspiration to the staff and an asset to the hotel). Would really love to return again hopefully next year . Thank you to everyone for making the holiday really special and memorable."

"5 nights well spent. The mexican menu was delicious obviously and always wondered why the texmex in NYC is not even close. We asked for an upgrade and got it 24 hrs later for very decent $. The staff is polite and smiling every time. Pretty smooth ambiance for a family resort. Beware of the two "pirate" charters docked right next to the resorts private beach with occasional diesel fumes, loud music and merry take-offs with all onboard. Too many vessels passing near the beach to enter/exit the lagune (more gas fumes). The private beach is too small for daily volleyball activities. If you want great waves and the real McCoy, hop on a bus and head for the various public beaches on the main boulevard. Theyre worth it (Playa Delfines especially). Would not return. Sorry."

" Went to Cancun for my daughter's wedding, so it was a diverse group of families in attendance, more than 30 in all. The resort is beautiful and looks like and 4+ when you arrive, but is a 3 max. We had no choice but to stay here as Wilma wiped out our original hotel. The five days preceeding the wedding were wonderful, good service, etc., but the day after the wedding all service stopped. These are just a few of the events that took place during our two week stay at the Gran Costa Real. 1.A mess-up with our rooms when we first arrived. 2.Some of our rooms were given away to spring breakers - the hotel guaranteed no spring breakers, we were concerned because of the number of small children under 6. 3.Hotel chaotic and noisy. 4.Police running up and down the hallways in the middle of the night blowing whistles and arresting people. 5.Girls beat up in the hallways on several occasions, with no response from hotel staff. 6.We were harassed by security, and robbed by security. 7.Drunk persons fighting outside my room in the middle of the night - not as much of a concern if I had not had my 3 yr. old granddaughter staying with me. 8.Oral sex at the beach bar just outside my room. 9.One of our party came home with cholera. And I save the best for last. 10.Poop in the pool, staff was reluctant to react and the poop was scooped out but the pool was never drained and cleaned. Yuck!! Air Transat had slow, inappropriate response. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and certainly would never go back. This hotel should not be rated over 3 stars."
